I think it's a good idea to use louvered door on closets. I found things in my linen closet were getting a stale smell and the louvers put an end to that problem. As far as hardware goes, I'd at least stick to the same metal finish, but switching up knob styles, I think would look fine.

We just got rid of the brass knobs in our house. We installed round door knobs on a majority of the doors, but did levers on the double closet doors.

I am also selecting door styles and hardware for a remodel of our lower level. I have painted doors and trim on the other level but want to mix it up a bit in the lower level. I am considering painted trim to tie the to areas together but considering stained panel doors for the remodel. I will have 2 doors on rails in this remodel and would like to use stained doors with frosted glass inserts. I want to use black or oil-rubbed bronze hardware. The designers that I am working with have slightly different opinions, one saying to use all stained trim and doors and the other saying it is ok to have painted trim and stained doors. I know it is a personal decision but I am a little fearful of making the "wrong" decision and having to live with it:) Right now I am leaning towards mixing it up! No pictures to post at this time.

Thank you everyone! I think I am going to mix it up just a little bit. I am going to use 2 door styles. I just need to narrow down which ones I like!
