We just bought our first house and it comes with this massive built-in.

We can't decide if we want to keep it or demo it, as that it is included en suite to the master bedroom, and is made out of wood, so it is solid. We do have a lot of books that we could store there, but we don't think that is enough of a reason to keep it. We plan on refinishing the floors in Jacobean (dark brown) so we threw some white paint and a new handle to get an idea of what it could look like. (Excuse all the junk in the last photo.)

The first two photos show the built-in on the right, as well as its context to the master bedroom. The last photo is when we tried to prime it, but sanding and painting is going to take awhile, since it is covered with some kind of waxy finish that you really have to use elbow grease to sand off. Since we've never owned a home before, we've been learning by YouTube. :)

Any thoughts if we should keep it or for the space?
