Caulk nightmare - help

Hi! So my husband and I are renovating a 1920s colonial. We are doing all the work ourselves. We installed crown moulding in the kitchen and I used Loctite quick-dry white caulk for doors and windows. Came out seamless and I painted both the moulding and the walls. About 6 weeks later, within a 48 hour period, all of the caulk cracked! We are talking the entire bead. Needless to say, the paint that had covered the caulk peeled off and it looks awful. It's so obvious you can see it from another room. I now have to remove all the caulk and start over. Any suggestions on what product to use to prevent this from happening again?

Thanks!
