I usually use standard white for marble, it is darker than bright white, and looks great with the marble.

Do not use the Grey! Pick what is the cream in your stone for your grout color. Do not draw attention to the grout at all. The pattern with its shadows will do the work. Remember you can always blend grout colors. Less is more when it comes to grout. :)

Love your tile choice! I'd go with a grout that blends in with the tile, not a contrast, something like white or cream, but not bright, as first 2 posters suggested.

Agreed, white or light gray grouts would be ideal.

I recently installed a carrara back splash last year and used whisper grey (a soft grey). It is perfect, went on a little dark, but dries much lighter. It blends perfectly, so I am glad that I did not use white. Marble can be so different though, so stand back and look after you have it up to determine what the predominate shade is, yours could read more white or could read more grey.

I would go very light grey, a little easier to keep clean.

Stay standard white or silverado grey @ Lowes. Cream is warm and will not match correctly

The grout color is misty grey which I was told was a light grey. I guess I should sample it before I lay it up on the wall.

If gray blends better than white, then use gray, by all means!

Custom blend has a two colors that would be suitable "white dove" & "platinum"

-& or. One is white and the other is the lightest grey. Do not use cream because there is no cream in Carrara. Since it is not on the floor id go with white. But if you're leaning towards the grey, platinum is the way to go.

I love using Frost or Warm Gray by Mapie or Silver Shadow by Latricrete. They blend very nicely with the marble.

wishbonecustomtile.com here. I just installed white carrara marble in a master bath. The contractor brings me charcoal by mapei. Can anyone even visualize what charcoal would look like? It would be dog doo? Right? Please comment so i can print your responses and hand them to the contractor. I want to make this right for the customer. Homeowners first choice was white and then changed to wanting a grey that goes with the darkest vein. My personal choice would be platinum. Please help!

My tile man used a very light grey. Love it. Guess the owners are worried about the grout getting darker over time. I would talk to them and ask them why dark gray.

If you go too dark then it will call attention to the grout, rather than the tile. I do not mind a tiny bit darker than the tile, but a lot darker calls out the negative space rather than the beautiful tile.

Here is carerra marble with medium grey grout. I absolutely love it, but keep in mind this is 3x6" tile, so the grout will be more prominent with tiny tiles simply because there's more grout visible compared to a larger tile. I like that look and have that same tiny herringbone tile as a fireplace accent, so I'll try to get a pic soon to show you what that looks like with the grey grout.

So which did you go for in the end? I've just had the same tiles installed in my powder room today and the hexagon ones as our kitchen splash back. Grouting is being done tomorrow and I was also leaning towards misty grey ... it's very light but I think it would tone with the tiles more than white??

I'm having the same dilemma! The angst! my contractor did a sample in standard white (not bright white) but also suggested Frost ( a light gray). The gray seems to blend pretty good too.. ( see grout samples propped up against tile). Thoughts?

Im installing a 3x5 carrara marble in my bathroom. The tile lace suggested the fusion brit whit to use for the grout but my contractor is worried about the product that it will make the tiles darker. Does anyone have used the fusion for carra tiles and how and have anyone had a problem with it?

Update. Appreciate the previous feedback. I ended up using the standard white grout and love how it turned out.

@Jessica... I went back and forth over grout color... I posted a couple of pics of the standard white if that's helpful.. I think it lets the tiles stand out vs.. the grout. So depending on the look your going for.. if you want the individual tile pieces to pop more, you may want to go with a more contrasting color, like the bright white or the light gray. But if you want more of a blended look, the standard white is a good option.

Susan, did you use honed or polished marble for your backslash. I also love your counters, would you mind sharing what they are?

Looks like viatera rococo quartz, the marble looks polished on my monitor. I have that same combination in my kitchen.

@esteltzer. I used the polished. Tiles were from lowes. My counters are the Quartz Roccoco.

For anyone checking back on this I am having a new house built and had a Carrara marble 3x6 subway tile backsplash put in the kitchen with absolute black granite. I went with TEC standard white grout and it came out very yellow or antique white against the tile. Especially when looking at it in the daylight. I'm wishing I had gone with a light gray or bright white.

I selected a grout color called WARM GRAY. The grout selection makes the tiles all BLURR together. I hate it. My HOUZZ selected contractor said for $1,800 they will re-grout it. Wish my HOUZZ contractor had made a sample to show me like Susan VZ got.

Will now try samples of a white and darker gray.

Has anyone used "rolling fog" with bianco carrera? it is by "Custom"?

I'm between Pewter and Delocran Grey. Pewter on my marble will give a contrast. Delocran Grey will provide a very clean look. I tiled the entire bathroom with marble tile using Arabescato Carrara. the color variation on the tiles are grey, gold, white and a rust color. I'm struggling because grout placement is the deal breaker. My bathroom is small, it's just a powder room, and I don't know what color to use. The bold me wants to go with the Pewter grout and add gold fixtures in the bathroom. Any recommendations? and safe me wants to go with the Delocran Grey but I don't think I will be happy in the end. please help. I will add pics to assist in the decision

@Kristal. My contractor did a sample piece for me (not on the wall.. just on a piece of cardboard) so I could see the overall look. I found that very helpful. Perhaps you can try that. Really comes down to personal preference. I tend to sway towards a lighter grout. PS. I would disregard the negative comment above from BeverlyFla.. This forum is here to help people.. really doesn’t matter that it’s an older post. Still relevant. :).

and is that your DIY shower tile? why are you grouting before the other tile is installed? why do you have all the tiny pieces and sliver cuts? sorry, bad layout.

BTW, Mastic is a NO-No in a shower.

Susan VZ, the grout you used with your polished marble tile is exactly what I am looking for. When you say that you use standard white, what actual color/brand did you use? Was it Mapei unsanded grout in white or was it something else?
