Why don't you find a panoramic picture of something you absolutely love that has lots of color, and hang it there? It could be an picture of your favorite place such as a beautiful lake, the ocean, mountains or whereever you love to go.

Nice start with your room. I agree a rug. And I have seen dozens of dilemmas like this where people need art. Even inexpensive museum posters can provide a way to get some color fast.

This is a good problem to have! You have an open space that needs something special. You have plenty of room and the tone of the room is neutral enough to be friendly to many different things. I have two suggestions. First is a large-scale oil painting. There are places, not in America unfortunately, but in Europe, where oil painting is as important as it was two hundred years ago. We carry many of these pieces, which look as if done by masters. I'm attaching one for you to consider. Also, I've been seeing planters that hang like paintings. These are really interesting and great looking. They are good for conversation pieces, they clean the air in the room and they just look fantastic. I'll attach an image of one of these as well. I would find a dresser/buffet and then get two lamps and artwork to fill the space.

Some of Peter Colbert's tree prints might be pretty. You can also change artwork and accessories with the season which is much more interesting than having a stagnant room year 'round.

Love the light fixtures which would look much more coherent without all the tall candles. Suggest moving them to another location.
