Most of my walls are egg shell. I don't like the dull look and I don't like the shiny look. Egg shell is the perfect in between.

I have matte: clean look and is washable

My kitchen was painted a soft yellow in eggshell; it's time to paint it again. I am considering the color "Shades of Spring" by Benjamin Moore.

I use eggshell finish paint. I love the way it hides surface imperfections and leaves a velvety smooth, professional looking finish.

I love the eggshell finish. it is easier to clean than matte, has somewhat a very slight glow, but is not semi-shiny like satin or any of the others. I love light cream walls, almost every wall in my house is that color. The cream color with an eggshell finish is lovely.

I'm currently in a super creative "mural-ing" mode. I am using everything I seem to get my hands on (flat, eggshell, high gloss, metallics and don't forget the glaze) to create certain effects and depths. High Gloss is such a pain fora girl with little patience in having a few extra coats to apply when other paint finishes seem to apply, dry and look better with just one coat. I'm really diggin' the flat matte! First choice overall, with all to consider.

High gloss is so easy to clean.

Eggshell in standard paints like BM Regal. The new paints like Aura have really changed the game though.

In Texas, the slightly textured walls means a matte finish is a preferred finish. Haven't had any issues keeping them clean; easy to touch up as needed.

I'm surprised at all of the eggshell answers! I live in a 1913 cottage and I have to use flat/matte finish for these old plaster walls. Question; can a somewhat shiny finish (like satin) be mixed with a flat finish to make a blend between the two?

Sherwin-Williams carries a paint that is classified as "low luster . I find it very helpful especially if the walls have aged (marks, scratches, etc) or we're not originally finished to my standards and so there are some visible errors. The low luster is a cross between flat and semi cross resulting in a very durable surface which hides a multitude of sins.

My favorite painted surface, whether it be wall...furniture..or accessory is usually something in a custom yet not too outrageous faux. But the always marketable matte/flat painted surface of a wall wins big with me when using the time tested colors of Benjamin Moore...and yes....there is a washable matte! :-):-):-)l

Eggshell, but like semi-glossin bathrooms, kitchen, laundry. Oh, and I swoon over exterior trim paint in high gloss.

though I love all the colors, the high gloss orange accent wall really struck a note with me. it is cheerful and warming to me. I am so tired of all my monotone colors but they work with everything.

hate how light bounces off shiny walls.

me to, it is hard on the eye. I don't do shiny ceilings either. but I loved this particular application.

I like to use a semi-gloss in the bathrooms and the kitchen. When you have kids and lots of people in and out, semi-gloss is easy to keep clean and has a nice sheen to it.

Well, I know I am in the minority here with my murals vote! Not the tacky kind we may all remember from the 70's! But a sophisticated mural can do so much to make a room feel more open, hide wall flaws, exhibit a personality and attain a wow factor. I wish we could have access to more murals!

I have to admit that for practical, and yes, it is very clean and attractive, I paint using the eggshell paint. However, if I wasn't practical - I would definitely have the mural that is used in your "vote" thumbnail. Love this type of mural because of the old world feeling. Please let me know who did this mural....it is sophisticated.

I have some eggshell and some high gloss. I like clean, scrub-able walls. I take size 9-10 for the slippers!!!! Ha.

Living in a Santa Fe house, the specialized wall treatments work here though they are done in eggshell. Here you can see two niches which are given interest and in the distance a lightly fauxed wall to add age.

I just love eggshell finish. It just looks more natural in sunlight and night time too.

I love a matte or satin finish - satin especially for the wash-ability! Too much sheen shows too many imperfections unless you have a level 5 finish.

We purchased an old (1947) house two years ago, and I spent the first year stripping wallpaper, repairing and prepping the walls for paint. I love for my walls to be light; either white, off white, or a pretty pale gray called Snowfall from Sherwin Williams...all a satin finish. It makes for a clean feel and I can easily change an accent color w/o needing to change the paint.

I love color!!! When we bought our house every room was painted a grayish putty color; it was very depressing!

Recently have liked matte paint since it seems to make art pop on the walls. Find it very easy to keep clean using the Mr. Clean pads. Some rooms have eggshell. Always use semi-gloss on moldings.

It really depends on the space that needs painting. I love all the paint types for different reasons. Some are breathtaking -- which I would love for my foyer! Others are warm and ancient -- I have that in my kitchen.

The glace finish we do creates interest and works with traditional or contempory.

I'm intrigued by the number of designers on this thread that favor Sherwin Williams. 90 percent of the color palette selections I'm given by designers are Ben Moore, and there's no Ben Moore store nearby. Very Frustrating. I love Sherwin Williams, for both painting and furniture finishing products. Oh yes, I like matte walls, because they hide imperfections, and touch up easily. Eggshell or higher sheen is impossible to touch up.

Eggshell is our go to finish for walls.

Eggshell for walls, semi gloss for trim. :) Acrylic for cupboards , durable and easy to clean. :)

my favorite is the Venetian plaster, but due to budget must have eggshell on walls and semigloss on molding

Venetian plaster is beautiful... I'm not even deterred by the recent discovery that I share this preference with George Michael!

Love semi-gloss. Eggshell may be popular but it strikes me as a sheen for the indecisive: humdrum and tedious.

I use semi-gloss. You can wash it for years and not loose your finish.
