Cleaning bathrooms. I just can't stand scrubbing the grout on the shower floor and trying to get it as I want it and still not succeeding. Shower doors will never be as sparkly as I want them. Toilets,,,let's not even get started:)

Funny, I'd rather take out the trash than many other things. I really hate grocery shopping. I dislike having to think of dinner menus, planning for meals, and then there is the selecting the stuff, buying, sacking, schlepping, cooking... ugh... so I guess I don't mind quick household chores where I don't have to think about it so much.

Changing batteries in smoke detectors. I have to get my tall ladder from storage room. Open the gadget and hope I don't hit the switch that yells FIRE, FEU, FIRE, FEU.
Yep even our fire detectors are bilingual. That's if I remember to change the batteries before I get suddenly wakened in the night by the darn battery man yelling batterie faible.

It would be the garbage but since it is my husband job, mine is cleaning toilet.

Torrey Kanne, I am about to solve that dilemma. I sacrificed the linen closet in the master bath to make space for a urinal. I got very large granite slab tiles so minimal grout lines and I just have to save now to buy the unit (I'm almost out of $) as I already plumbed in for it. It will be easy to clean in there as I made it to contain splash. Now then. You want to go #1, that is your designated place, all Y gene bearing bodies in my house. Years back with mine and his bathrooms, he complained his 'smelled' and since he was the one using it; he got to clean it. 4 hours and he found out what sort of aim he had... his aim got vastly better. Try it, dear; one bulletproof biffy with urinal. Make them clean it too.

Me, yep, cleaning bathrooms, especially Sir John with the dribble down the chin and don't ask under the rim; close second in that room is the glurp that grew in the shower enclosure. I hopefully will be fixing all those issues now. After the bathroom is de-gunking the disposer because he tried to feed it something he shouldn't have again. My hand is small, it fits down the hole...

Vacuuming... Our vac needs repairing properly. Hose is taped on so when I use the damn thing, it pops out. Husband is a true DIY bloke, hates to pay anyone for repairs. I make him do the vacuuming now :)

Cleaning showers ... and I always hate it when I clean it, walk away for a few minutes and then I hear the hubby taking a shower.

Taking out the trash is a horrible task, but I'd say dusting and vacuuming dog hair is worse!

Guess who informed me just before lunch that the disposer is jammed again, he 'may have accidentally dropped something in it' .. and since it is reeking of banana I bet he tried stuffing four peels down it and broke off a plastic fork doing so. Again. One banana daiquiri minus the banana and I might get up the gumption to do that.

I work in front of computer all day so I actually enjoy doing mindless task around the house. Dishes, cleaning, scrubbing, picking up — it's all very calming to me. Helps me recharge my brain batteries. What bothers me the most is when I don't have the time to do it; or that big pile of laundry is staring at me and I'd love to tackle it but hanging out with my family is just much more important.

Ugh. Housework. I'd rather do renos, I'd rather paint the walls than wash them, and I do, which is why people call me a paintoholic. That said, I'd rather do housework than grocery shopping. I send hubby out for that.

Ironing is such a pain in the neck. I always try postponing it to the next day, and when I look at the pile of clothes I wanna open the door and run away.
I hate all household chores but I'm forced to do them if I want to live in harmony here on the farm. The ones I hate the most are the ones that consume too much time - for example, cleaning the bathroom, cleaning the inside of an oven, mopping floors and of course ironing which I decided recently is NOT necessary chore at all if one gets hardly out to town. I now gotta figure out how to keep the bathroom clean with a minimum of effort
  • 12 years ago
There are 2 things I look before buying a cloth: no ironing and no dry cleaning. Paying once for clothes is enough.

Folding laundry and putting it away.
Putting away laundry and emptying the dishwasher. Our DW broke in August right before we started a kitchen reno, so I wont have a new one til next month. I have had water in the kitchen all this time so I have continued to use regular plates and am washing dishes constantly...a colossal waste of time and something no one else thinks of doing. Trying to be sustainable, but I will need to go to disposable products as we come down the homestretch of this reno. And the constant cleaning the cat boxes is no walk in the park either!

I don't do house keeping...I do home caring so I don't min the chores so much. I feel fortunate to have a house to call mine so for me, it's all about perception!

after dinner clean up. Because I hate dirty dishes in the sink. Most people want to relax after dinner so I'm the one doing the dishes!

I've never minded cleaning the bathrooms, but the dusting I hate. I was very happy when dusting became the kids' chore. But my helpers are almost all gone - 8 months and the last goes to uni! Will there be less dust when they are fewer people in the house - I doubt it!

I had an answer to the question when I opened the article but after reading the article and seeing all the things everyone hates and going 'yeah I hate them too' I am not too sure which one I hate more. Dishes, food shopping, ironing and oven cleaning are all top contenders, although cleaning up after children comes in close due to it's endlessness especially while kids are on holidays. Currently my house is trashed from holiday activities and all I can do is wait for school to go back and hope no one visits in the meantime and the nervous twitch from looking at the state of the house will soon subside.
