Any kind of draw curtains would work. Open during the day and close at night. What are your colors in the room? Looks like the window could take a bold pattern.

I have a window that is a bit similar but I think there are two differences. My window treatments are sheers w curtains that run straight across from lower side, leaving a clear rectangle on top (no real curtain rod - more just a track that is less conspicuous). That said, I think my ceilings are taller and I don't have baseboard heaters. For your space, I wonder if custom shutters might work. I think you'll def have to go custom and spend big money, but it will be worth it! I ended up spending $3k on mine but I don't regret it....my hubby might argue that, though :)

For privacy: you can use light weight accordion/honeycomb blind that are light, but provide adequate privacy. I would divide it into the 3rds. so you can control the light and privacy options. My favorite is the option of top down-bottom up from Hunter Douglas. It gives you the privacy below and allows you to see out or have natural light filter in from the top.

For décor: a simple valance/cornice will hide the mechanisms of the blinds and add some color to your space. A second option would be some panels to soften all the hard angles the window.

Colonial - the red and white are the final colors with a dark exposed beam ( brown) and brown couches.

Mrs - spending that kind of money at the moment won't work. Ha got a lot of other things to fix seeing we have only been here a month in our first home.
