I have been known to cover an unacceptable carpet with another (plain) loose, room-sized carpet. Worked beautifully, but the wall-to-wall was low-pile. Whether it would work for you might depend on how high-pile your carpet is. Any chance of a picture of the room and the carpet? You would probably get a strip of the peach carpet showing around the edges, but that could act as a "frame" for the top carpet, which would have to be a colour that works with the peach. A dark brown could look good if it worked with the rest of the room.

Well said, Row. Ilana, it doesn't look from the photo as though the carpet is too high-pile to put another more acceptable carpet on top of it. I'd try first for the effect of putting a fairly large rug on it -- does it lie flat, does it feel right underfoot? I am presuming that you can't replace it with a floor more to your liking? It looks like a lovely place, by the way. Congratulations.
