Need help with a slope dilemma

My house in on a hill. I have a slope behind me and a neighbor house below. Living on the hill provides me with a view. The neighbor below wants to plant trees on the slope but they when mature will block my view. Any ideas on planting the slope so the neighbors tree wants are satisfied and my view is maintained? The slope faces north. We live in CA so drought tolerant is best.

Depending on the size of trees they are planting, it would take at least 10 years for them to be mature enough to block your view. Otherwise it's their lot and there's little you can do.

Do you have idea of the drop from your eye level to the area where your neighbor wants to plant the trees? Once that is determined, your neighbor could pick trees whose mature height will not exceed that drop and perhaps you will both be happy. Here's my hopes you have a considerate neighbor.

The drop I am guessing is about 30 feet. One of the issues is they want to plant some trees as high as a 6 foot drop. They seem to think that palm trees are the way to go at the lowest level then camphor trees higher up the slope.

What does the neighbor hope to accomplish by planting trees between your homes? Block your line of sight down into their property to provide some privacy? If so, there may be other ways to achieve that.

Yes that is exactly what they say. There already is a hedge about 3' tall at the property line at the top of the slope. We don't see their house at all unless we go to the edge and look over. The only other way we see their house is out of our second story bedroom window. I actually think they don't want to see our house, hence the trees.
