Jensooz - Granite countertops in general need to be sealed yearly. Sealing a countertop is very easy, you just wipe it on and let it sit over night. I recommend to my clients that you plan to do this before the holidays, since that is usually when people entertain the most. Lighter color stones have less carbon and are less dense - which means if they are more likely to be stained. That said, in most cases, clients don't have problems with any granites staining. If you heard some horrible reviews, it might have just been someone that doesn't perform any maintenance on their home/counters or they were just unlucky to get a rare piece that is more likely to stain. That happens occasionally, but as i mentioned it is rare. Hope this helps.
