Start with bedding and then the drapery fabric to go with it - probably a solid neutral from the colors in your bedding.

I want to have more texture and light grays, creams, and whites...

instead of losing the windows, how about panels across the wall with the headboard on either side of the windows & in the center. still keeps the light coming in.

I covered the entire wall my bed sits against with curtains and LOVE the outcome, it evens up the room a bit and makes it look much wider. I would try and get rid of the TV chest...

MKR325...that's a consideration too. Windows aside, how do you all feel about placement of the other items? 2 Nightstands, standing lamp? Vase in a corner....bedding?

This set has some nice texture to it. The white would be a good starting point then add in the accent colors with pillows/throws/etc...

I also like the idea of curtains across the back wall to anchor the bed. You should be able to keep the chair and add two smaller nightstands without impeding flow. I don't know if this is an option or even in the budget but you can hand two small pendaliers or pendant fixtures over the nightstands in lieu of lamps. Just a thought :)

Since your armoire is going, you could go with just about anything for nightstands, white, espresso, mirrored. What is your taste?

These have clean lines - come in both white and black with nickel accents and the top tray is removable.

You mentioned grays - Is paint an option? Whites and grays can provide a soothing and classy look - and don't be afraid to go darker on the grey, especially if you have a light colored duvet and accents. Just a few of the many rooms from houzz ...




Also, if you plan to keep the ceiling fan, the blades can be replaced or simply painted to match whatever color furniture you end up with.

Thank you for the suggestions! I was hoping the paint would stay since this is the third paint color (laugh). I do prefer clean lines. My trim paint and doors are more of a cream/ivory than a white.

A white spread will not feel good with the cream/ivory trim and doors. Natural or off white might work, but may tend to look dingy too.

Yes, it can. I'm looking for some neutral bedding with lots of textures and shades of gray here and there. I think if I can nail down a set, I would be okay.

kellis1977, as I understand the question to be about room arrangement, I support the recommendation that you bed be moved to the long wall where you have ample room for two 18" (+/-) bed side tables with reading lamps. Your TV could be placed in the corner rather than between the two windows, keeping the same essential configuration by simply flipping the room layout. The current placement of your bed simply does not work given the high headboard.

Alternatively, a low headboard with side tables that elongate the line across the window wall could produce a workable solution that keeps the bed where it is. In my assessment, you would need some sort of elongation of that line even if you should go with the drapery suggestion unless you plan to blackout the light entirely.

I have flipped it! Do I need another chair in the corner? TV mounted there with chair under? Another piece? Trying to figure out arrangement before I start buying the accents.

I'm certainly not against the position you have the bed in now. Ideally the best position is opposite the entry door. You should walk in to the foot of the bed. I'd love to see a more open headboard or at least a bit shorter. Otherwise, drapery panels made from the same fabric on the headboard would work really well, outside mount. Then add matching bedside tables to keep the symmetry.

Thank you. I just recovered the bed and will need to work with it in its current state. Since I cannot alter the headboard, I guess I had to move it.....

That being said, I'm okay with it as it does seem to work better with the chair. I'm open to more suggestions about the empty corner, the location of the current chair/vase and the starburst.

If you aren't putting the TV between the windows, try a slender tall chest under the starburst there. I didn't even see it in your first pix. If you decide to get a second chair, I think the pair of them should sit together right of the bathroom door with a round table between them for coffee cups, book and glasses and possibly a lamp if there is an outlet. Or you could add an arc floor lamp in the corner to arch over them. Could you spend $$$ on a lift TV system at the foot of the bed? You can get them with swivels as well so TV could turn to the pair of chairs. Of course, there probably wouldn't be room for that and the tall chest between the windows, so I'd remove the starburst and just stack a pair of art pieces vertically between the drapes.

There is not enough room to place two chairs in the location you mentioned, Deco. Do you not think it would be feasible to have one where it is in the previous picture and one in the corner where you wanted them both? I do not believe that purchasing a lift for the TV
is in the budget either. :-(
