We are building a new Mediterranean style house. Body of the house is similar to this house in the pic. Its a creamy white. The builder added foam molding and the painter has painted this molding a musket brown. It seems to reddish to us. Its very deep in color. The trim was to be a Favorite tan by Sherwin William . The shingles are weatherwood . Browns and greys. We think the molding under the eaves should not be the musket brown seems to red to us. Can you suggest a deep brown that is not reddish. We have more samples than we want to admit. We truly need advice on this color . Our lights are black. The frame of the windows is bronze . HELP

    Hi Diann,
It sounds like there is a lot going on color and trim-wise. Spanish / Mediterranean homes should be simple in massing and color. If under the eaves is wood, then the wood should be a natural brown color. If under the eaves is foam/stucco trim, then the trim should be a variation of the main color of the house, say your tan or an off white...there should not be a big contrast. Any foam / stucco trim should be close in color to the main color of the house, and if the trim is wood, then it should be a natural brown color. Shutters, windows and doors can add color and pop to the house. Black iron lamps sound just fine. I have several Spanish/Med. homes shown on Houzz you can see for examples....and if you want to send me some photos of your home, I would be happy to take a look and offer any specific advice. Good morning Steve thanks for replying to my message. Our new home is concrete poured walls , under the eaves is concrete as well they are painted same as house color Special mix call Lancaster while. The foam molding is partly done and is special mix as well called Musket Brown which looks like devils food cake color have mixed feelings about it as we have looked at concrete walls for so long that once these few colors have been added to it we are having a time getting used to it with plastic on the windows as well and the trim not being painted . Favorite tan has been tried on the trim and it seems ok with the creamy white walls. We think its the intensity of the musket brown that is throwing it off . Painter left it part done so I think we could get used to the chain . He thinks it should be lighter . Right now you will see in the pic where my husband tried to paint the only wood and that is where the fascia will go which would be brown and the gutters will be brown and garage doors.. When looking around the neighborhood most of the houses to us seem so blau. With no fascia yet its hard to bring out the browns in the roof till fascia is placed on it. Were looking at bare wood right now . So since fascia is not on yet Hubby when and painted bare wood musket brown since it would get covered eventually by musket brown. In our minds it should be a less reddish brown . We only have 3 corbels on one wall under the eaves of side of care garage they were to be musket as well. I will be so happy to send you a pic and get some feed back. Maybe you will be able to see past the plastic on the windows better than us. In the pic you will see molding color needs to be added around some of the windows and bottom half of house as well . Left side of house has foam trim between the upper windows and lower windows. . Foam molding has also been added to RV garage as well and golf cart garage but it has not been painted yet with the musket brown. The last pic I uplo

Hey Steve all the colors came out beautiful . This is not a great pic as you can tell in Sunny Fl was not so sunny this day..Lol but will add a new one so you can see really how nice it truly is. Funny I just about lost it one day when a house next door was beginning to go up and the new neighbor to be said she was going to paint her house same color. I was thought she has to be joking. So in a nice way tried to talk her out of it . I went to the builder and his designer and they both told me they loved it so much they wanted same color. If that was the case we may as well add a breezeway and make it into a duplex lol. So after several months they since have got her to change her mind to another color Whew close call.
Thanks for the help way back when!
