But, if you hate the wallpaper, paint the corner any color you love, then accent the kitchen accessories accordingly. Great space!

I'd go with paint, something bright or fun that you won't get sick of, and a dramatic chandelier. To offset the black-white, I'd probably go with a warmer color, like coral, lime, mustard, orange. And consider mural wallpapers. The one pictured is made from a Van Gogh painting.

I agree with a couple of comments and will offer a wildcard comment. Barring the condition of the wallpaper, it's actually not a horrible print. Using designgenes inspirational print (turquoise branch art), I'd hang this wall art on the wall facing the kitchen--it now becomes your accent wall. I'd then carry the bold turquoise color by adding several accents of this hue throughout the kitchen. It's a visual trick that trains the eye to find the pop of color in the space. The black and white wallpaper now simply anchors or acts as the backdrop.

If you decide to switch up color, you can go with a turquoise/teal wallpaper or paint and then add a punch of sunny yellow or magenta accents throughout.

I like the wallpaper! I would replace the black chairs with colorful ones .. lime green comes to mind.

I like it too but I don't live there! I can see how it might get tiresome after a while. I like Carole's ideas for a bold saturated color.

The paper in this space would make me feel incarcerated. This pewter leaf would echo and enhance the flooring while brining in some bling.

Hi Kerri - Looking at your second floor furniture I see that you like an earthy organic feel so obviously this "mod" wallpaper is not working for you. You could just paint the breakfast nook area the same white as the rest of the kitchen - this way the great table/chairs and light fixture would stand out against the white walls. And then you could hang some interesting mirrors (light wood/brushed steel organic shape) or artefacts. I would put something round on the walls as well - so it's less angular. Light wood would tie in with the kitchen counters. I'm including some photos but neither of them are really "it" - but illustrate where I'm going with this... Good luck!

Thank you all for your comments and help! I'm going to post another picture so that you can see the yellow threading in the black & white. as well as different angles of the kitchen area. I do like softer edges and more earthy tones with a pop of colour. We bought this house because the layout is just so unique!
