Is a pity we cannot see the windows. I would remove also the curtains! :)

You may want to consider something like this modular wall unit. The shelves and drawers can be moved as your needs change. There is also space to hook up a tv and hide the wiring behind.

Emma, I don't think changing your black and white patterned lounger for a white sofa is going to help make your room look less crowded. But what I do think may help is removing everything from the walls and flat surfaces, perhaps removing rthe wood arm chair, recovering your seat cushions in a solid color, buying lighter curtains. Then, you can hang a few really meaningful items back on the walls. Your fireplace seems a second thought. Do you not us it? I like the black chair near it (with a floor lamp and small table, it makes a cosy corner for reading).
