It is a wide open room 22' x 19'. I envision expanding the kitchen and I'd like to have a seating area too. I have no pantry in the kitchen. I don't like the scale of the island. I want to get rid of the ceiling box (we got rid of the drop ceiling panels and fluorescent shop light) and vault it to match the rest of the ceiling. I'd like an office nook. The stone fireplace matches the front facade of our house so I'm reluctant to get rid of or reface. I feel like the scale of the hearth is too large and takes away space but since we don't have furniture in the room it is seating when guests congregate in the kitchen. The jury is still out on the future of the wood beams. I think they date the home (1982). The only natural light is from the original pocket sliders which we will be replacing, with what I haven't decided. After 10 years, I'm over learning to like my kitchen and small, inexpensive updates. Please help me!!
