Dear Design-sphere - I need your help!

We are having trouble trying to find both a design an pattern for Master Bedroom Ceiling. The ceiling is canvas over wood and will need to be completely replaced due to age and water damage. We do however have a blank slate on a new stencil design. We would like something more modern.

We would like to keep the design transitional while also being period/architecturally appropriate. I have found mural canvas which is 9' wide so we can re-skin the panels, I have also found a source for the molding trims to keep everything in historical context. The house is a large (3,800 sq.ft.) Arts and Crafts Bungalow and the master bedroom is 15' x 15' with the tray starting at 6.5' and going up to 8'. It is very cozy and has an adjacent on-suite Master Bath. There are water views out the three main windows and since the house is on a hill the windows look out into the tree canopy. Ideally I would like to do something nature inspired. I would however like to avoid any, 'old lady' design which are overly flowery or ornate. The house has strong architectural details and the room gets a ton of natural light.

Any thoughts on design? We are also debating adding a small chandelier in the middle of the center panel. Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions, comments are greatly appreciated.

I have seen these rooms and liked the ceilings;


* I wish I could see more of the ceiling compents.


* Would love to see more of the sky treatment.


* Love the compass rose in the floor.


* Interesting but too floral.
