Dining rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms... my ears, if that is what I wanted...lol

We have chandeliers in the family room, bedrooms and both the visitor's room and dining room.

I think a chandelier would look great in the kitchen

None of the above. Dining room only, and as minimalist as possible. Much too formal for my taste. But they are great fun to look at in other people's houses!

I'm in the all of the above club, depending on the space of course feeny, Denita and Luciana. I guess I'm saying it can happen, but the individual space has to be able to carry it. And I like simple rather than fussy ones in most cases.

Personally, I have one hanging out of my 200 year old white oak tree, another outside under the pergola over the outdoor dining table, and regret making the safe choice not to hang one in my study that resembled a jellyfish. (Traditional home but with some cheekiness in the office.)

Everywhere where I think suits, same look in different sizes for different rooms. Some flush with ceilings, others hanging and more as sconces. There are so many styles and finishes to choose from - tailored looking with linen shades to glamorous with dripping crystals. Who wants the builder grade light fixtures anyway?

Chandeliers are perfect for every room except maybe the garage???

I saw the cutest little flush mount chandelier, crystals and all, hanging in a closet in a photo here on Houzz. Ever sincemthen I've been looking for the perfect little chandelier to put in my closet. Size and price are the issues. lol.

I used to have a small crawl space cubby that was outfitted as my rabbits' room, complete with a bitty bed and a tiny chandy. Anne Dee, I am adoring the horse in"stall"ation!

the stairwell. I was looking to put a chandelier in the stairwell to cast shadows on the high walls. http://www.ikea.com/aa/en/catalog/products/50228623/ is the one I bought. It is more like a pendant but they call it a chandelier, so I'll go with that. My stairwell is white and leads up to a grey corridor. I like the way the shadows dance on the wall with the slightest breeze (btw not the best thing if there are dangling crystals). It also casts a shadow on the ceiling. I didn't know what art to put in the stairwell... now I don't need to.

We moved into a house with a chandelier in the living room that didn't fit with the low ceilings or the 60s-70s construction of the house, so we put it in the (separate) toilet! We hung a Union Jack flag as a blind on the window and put a picture of the Queen on the back of the door to make it our own little "throne room" (a nickname over here in New Zealand for that room). Then a few days later we put in a dimmer switch so we didn't blind ourselves in the middle of the night....

Bedrooms!

I put one over my island in my Country French kitchen . Love it!

All of the above. In our last house we installed chandeliers in every room, including the hall. Our new house only has them in the kitchen, dining room, and foyer. Itching to install one in the living room, which has 20 foot ceilings.

I have a large drum in black/brushed nickel with crystals dangling out of it over the tub in my master bathroom.

It really depends on the room, but I would not recommend any lights with cloth shades in a kitchen or bath, unless you a) don't use the room or b) have the money to repair/replace the fixture as they can get damaged by steam, grease and/or other deposits from cooking.

I'd definitely get one in the entrance lobby if I had a big entrance.

This one was recently installed in a master bath renovation. The homeowner is very pleased. It just depends on your preference and style.

I'm wondering if chandeliers will be a trend that will soon end (with the exception of dining rooms). That would be my gut feeling.

Ours has been with us since the first house (reno): Italian Crystal, beads and bezels. It was our treat to ourselves. In decorator terms it never fit that first little house but we liked it. In reality it probably only looked 'appropriate' in one house. Forty years later, multiple states and many houses later we still have it. We always hang it up in the dining area. Yes, it is a pain to clean but it makes us smile and I believe in filling a house with things you really like.

In one of our projects, there was a chandelier in the kitchen. I myself would have it in the hallway.
