Completely redecorating the living room in our craftsman home. Stuck on paint color. Want something calm and bright since the room can be dark in the afternoon. Struggling to find a color that coordinates with the greens, browns and rust colors of the tile fireplace surround but isn't too dark up against the oak mantle. Visitors admire the mantle, but I'm inclined to paint it white. How bad is that? Or leave it with the natural stain and find a wall color that works all around. Floors are oak; moldings are white. All other colors TBD. Any ideas? I like BM Bone Black but only if I paint the mantle white. Thanks!
