*Re-posting w/ floorplans and pics!* My husband and I are remodeling our kitchen. Our home's entry is a 48" wide hallway 13 1/2 feet long. My husband thinks we should move the hallway wall 2 feet to take some of the room from the kitchen in order to make "a more impressive entry." I disagree and think since the kitchen is the most important room, we should maximize the space. This would reduce the kitchen from 13.5 x 12 feet to 13.5 x 10 feet, and force me to give up cabinet and counter space. What would be the best thing based on resale, etc?

The hallway picture has existing door to kitchen on right, immediately inside entry. It's not a really dark hallway because there is a door to the back of the house on the other end. Both proposed plans have the door into kitchen moved down the hall to maximize work flow in the kitchen's newly re-configured space. Hopefully you can see the floor plans of the 2 proposals. I've also attached a couple of "before" pictures of the current kitchen so you can all see how badly I need a new one!
