I did hire a guy to landscape ideas. One that even won awards in this area. But he just suggested as is. With hydrangeas around the house. We had hydrangeas but they went wild and took all summer to pull out.

Don't need anything extravagant. Just to look pretty and clean

Adding a walkway to the pier might work. Edge with annuals the first year.

If the house is in the northern hemisphere, the trees and yard will green up soon. In the meantime, you might consider putting on a bright table cloth for the picnic table, some paper (or plastic) solar lanterns, white solar fairy lights, or a couple of decorative windsocks on poles at the entrance to the pier. Then when it warms up enough, you can plant some tall and medium height annuals in beds around the patio. Azaleas can stay a lot shorter than hydrangeas. Take a look when they come into bloom.

Every parts don't match,haven't a focus.redesign the porch, add a fence,a S fluid line shape walkway... add some flowers,shrubs...I try to do some.

There is so much you can do there all depending on your budget and how far you want to go. Best bet is get a local landscaper and come up with a design.
