Oh My, How to Hide These Ugly AC Units!

I've been asked to help a church make a modular building look less modular. The challenge of the day is how in the world to hide the pair of large, wall-mounted AC units on one end of the building. A wheelchair ramp is already designed and permitted for that end of the building too (though it's not built yet). It will begin 4' out from the end of the building. One idea I had was to install louvered panels (see image attached), but I'm still struggling to picture how this might work. Would love suggestions and creative ideas! I'm stumped!!!

Sure, or some trellises with climbing plants. Nothing too close, as I understand a/c units need to "breathe". But why not go one step farther and turn some of that grass into a food bank vegetable garden for the needy of the church or the community??

Yes, breathing is important. Thanks for the reminder. And it's funny you mention the garden idea. They actually already share part of their land with some folks that are growing veggies on it.

That IS funny! I just noticed the metal (tongue?) on the a/c side of the trailer. Since that's in the way of erecting screening/trellises, maybe they would have to mount against those pieces, forming a sort of triangular shape?

Be carefully planting around the air conditioners. The will be giving off a lot of heat and will probably scorch what every you put near it. The a/c units will also have to be regularly cleaned, and the coil cleaner and the maintenance guy/gal stomping around will finish off what the hot air does not. If you are going to put structures around it make sure not to block the air flow, the maintenance people have plenty of room, and the are removable (if one of the units needs repair/replacement in the future).

Is there a way to do those panels and bring them to like a point and put a large cross on the top. You could just do it as an art piece more or less, no scoring the plants and it give the face of the building more of a "building" feel. With the same horizontal pieces around the bottom?
