I agree, handle. Actually I ripped a coat pocket on a knob. Won't ever use knobs for kitchen hardware again.

I mixed knobs with pulls and like it a lot. Satin nickel. Lowes has a lot of choices.

Are you replacing the door hinges as well? The oil rubbed bronze has been great for me. They look uniformed and the dark color does show fingerprints or wear/tear.

I sounds like you are replacing your interior door hardware, not your cabinet hardware. Generally, you would choose either levers or handles and they are not typically mixed (unlike cabinet hardware, which is often mixed). That said, you could mix them if the styles work with each other, and Satin Nickel is indeed a great choice. Oil Rubbed Bronze has been the "hot" choice for a number of years now, but we are starting to see a trend back to the silver tones, such as Satin Nickel, Pewter, etc.

Why does the hardware have to be the same everywhere? We build open plan homes with handles on the main level for better handi-cap access, and knobs for the kids' area. Just a thought.
