Help-hardwood floors will be higher than fireplace

Hello . We are renovating and installing hardwood floors. As it stands now, the hardwoods will sit about 1/2" higher than our hearth surround. If we raise the hearth surround 1/2 inch, it will be 1/2' higher than the floor of the masonry fireplace. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think that it is a problem to have the hearth a little higher then the floor of the fireplace......It is not unusual....

Agreed, the hearth could be a bit higher than the flooring, but not the other way around.
