need help on selecting new siding

I need help deciding on type of siding and colors for our home. We are trying to keep costs down and I would love to have some wood mixed with some type of Hardy Board that has been recommended. Looking at pictures I seem to like the rustic, traditional and eclectic syles.

What is on the lower portion of the house? Stone? Are you keeping it? What is the color?

The lower portion is brick and I would like to keep it and if there is brick under the siding that's in good condition I'd like to keep that as well. The brick is sort of orange I guess.

If you uncover more brick, I'd choose soft gray shutters & siding + white door and urns (see inspiration photo).

If you do not uncover more brick, I'd choose the soft gray siding and shutters & might remove the shutters from the upper story.
