I think it will look nice, but consider long term livability. Will you like the red 5 years from now? Also, your picture looks like you're a young family, so how long will you live in your house? If you plan on moving at some point, resale could be an issue with a bold color on something as permanant as a countertop. This comes from personal experience as we redid our bathroom in the 80s when green was popular. I've replaced every bit of dark green except for the green marble look in our bathroom. Now I hate it and we're about to put the house on the market. I truly wish I had gone with neutrals on the more permanant fixtures and used color as an accent.

An afterthought.. idea... for bringing in the red would be to do pendant lights over the island with red glass shades and maybe a large red bowl on the counter.

@creeser this is not my kitchen picture but as i said its almost the same since it has exactly the same colors of cabinet and floor.
