There is so much light coming from the window that I would be inclined to do honeycombs on each individual window... It would do a better job diffusing the light. I would move the sofa away from the bay window and also declutter a bit.

Are the walls green? Curtains red? If so, I am not feeling that combo. I would also go for more modern lamps.

Hi, here is what I would suggest to try and see it it fits. I am ocd until my room is finished. I think there is too much stuff going on and a lot of lights. All are very nice and attractive but your eyes move around a lot. I would swap out the table that has the tv on it with the taller armoire. take the pictures off of the sconce shelves and replace with two matching stars that are hanging over the bay window. remove the wall art & put the tv on top. I like the sofa where it is and so does your doggie :) I think you could make an area dedicated to pictures on one side of the moved smaller table and balance it level with the mirror the other side of the table. move the tall light and the light next to the chair and replace with the slender and smaller light on the armoire. get rid of the table in front of the sofa and replace with the pouf. I would put the pointy art int he bay window where the globe is to balance out the smaller light. id put the urn in the bay window and add dried hydrangeas. id put some stuff away and see how the room blends w/o it. you can always bring it back when your ready for something new. is that a piano?

I would put the sofa where the tv is and move the tv into the corner ( where the red leather chair is)...

I also prefer to have the sofa/ view facing out the window. Your dog enjoys the view but people do not. Like the idea of putting the tv on top of the piece of furniture.

Several issues to resolve. Piano needs to be on an interior wall - probably across from the window - for its health. TV should be on the end wall and you need to get the sofa out of the bay window. Perhaps angle the chair on the left end of the window facing TV on end wall. Float the sofa perpendicular to the piano and window. Dark pix are deceptive, but there looks to be a lot of over sized and non-functional furniture here. The piece under TV and the bench serving as a coffee table are not working.

Put TV on the wall and a narrower console under it for a smaller technology that does a variety of multimedia. Wide TV cabinets are out as tech moves on.

Thanks everyone for all the ideas. The pictures were taken with my tablet so the colors off, definitely no reds in the room. The chair and curtains are rust. There is actually not that much light coming in, the picture just made it look that way.

The piano definitely can't move to another room as someone suggested as it is too big. We recently inherited it and it will most likely leave with my son in a few years.

The room is not very wide so to place the sofa perpendicular to the far wall would leave no walk way around it.

If the sofa moves to where the TV is now, placing the TV in the corner where the chair is the viewing would be poor.

I do want to remove the pics above the TV, but struggle with what to put in its place. The stars are tiny and would not work.

I am trying to utilize the pieces of furniture I have as some are newly purchased and I cannot afford to buy new ones.

I love Candace Olson's rooms and they are always packed with ally of things, but seem to work.

ok pull that arm chair off the wall, get rid of the double stacked lamps in that corner. there is way to much clutter but nothing on the walls. the wall that shows the piano the picture is very dark hard to tell whats going on there. loose the small tv stand wall mount tv and use larger dresser/console under it. eliminate small one re group mirror and photos on small wall. Put tall lamp by piano, its dark over there. put end table in fore ground between chair and sofa on other end. put tall lamp there.

Your room is nice but what I would try is to declutter.....for example, the TV wall. Take the shelves down and move your chest (with mirror over it) there to put your TV on. (what you have there is too deep). Nothing else on the wall. I would put your TV cabinet/stand on the wall near your reddish chair...mirror hung horizontal. Lamp on the left and low pictures on the right but not that tallish thing (can't tell what it is.). Remove the floor vase, globe and basket. Also remove the tray from the ottoman in front of the couch. Take away the table between the couch and piano, looks too crowded...Floor lamp is fine. I see you have a reading lamp on the table by the chair.....keep that but take away the tourchiere lamp in the corner. I lkike the stars but not where they are....will they look good on the wall over the piano or maybe incorporate them around the mirror.

I actually like the atmosphere of this room, but it needs a bit of colour,,try some ikat print throws , pillows and a vibrant wallpaper at the far end, to fore shorten the feel of the room, a family room is always a multi purpose mish mash for every one, so don't be too much of a perfectionist,,,
