That's hilarious bsellers. I booked us a weekend at what I thought was going to be a charming seaside B&B in CT a few years back, and in disbelief upon arrival to our boat yard accommodations, with floor to ceiling (inclusive) paneling, roadside castoff "antiques," manky cot for our son and an inadequate number of grocery store muffins in their plastic container for the guests to share, I came up with the coastal-gone-awry category I now fondly refer to as "Shanty Chic."

...and now that I mention it, I'm looking for someplace to stay on the short strip of NH seacoast and so far I'm having a bit of Shanty Chic déjà vu. Any houzzer-approved recommendations?

My house is my profile picture. It's currently mostly furnished with grad student hand-me-downs. I'm planning to slowly fill it with antique and vintage, but that's not something you can go out and buy, you have to find it. It's been a bit of a learning curve to figure out.

I got traditional. I agree. Although I was disappointed in the questions because so many of the multiple choice answers had nothing I'd actually choose. For instance, what art do you hang in your living room. I have a beautiful Japanese woodcut that was a gift from a friend in Japan, a framed pair of Indonesian shadow puppets, several lovely landscapes (see a similar one below) by Raphael Sensemen an artist that was local to Takoma Park, MD, when I was a child, some pen and ink prints by R. H. Palenske that were from my Grandfather's medical office (see the horse below), and a large print of a painting of the battle of New Market, the battlefield was next to the boarding academy I attended for high school.

I got French Country. A lot of the questions didn't have answers that really fit. The description fits, but I like English country with a bit of a modern twist better.

I took it twice. My moods varied between midcentury modern and rustic. Most of the questions didn't really have my answers. My actual house is mostly worn-out Seventies with layers of Stuff.

Old fashioned and comfy in style with lots of gentle soft colors,and vintage layers. I never buy anything "made in China" .

I scored mid century modern, which is so NOT what I like. Most of the answers were nothing I would pick. I am traditional/french country. Fun, but not accurate.

I'm a traditional eclectic..........kind of "old world wealthy" with a big twist because I mix pieces that are not traditional. When people come into my home they say it is like walking into a museum because every room is so interesting..........and they like it. I get asked to help them decorate but I can only do my own because I sense what I like and how it will mix. It's not gaudy but it definitely is not the run of the mill decorating.

I scored Mid century modern, which I am not the least bit interested in. Not sure how this test comes up with the designations but the limited picks from the answers must be the reason it skews your style. I'm am so NOT mid century modern it isn't funny! Can't warm up to that style for me at all.

I love Asian decorating style like Japanese decor. I am not an expert or even close, but I really don't feel I am mid century modern...I will say that I absolutely love to take design quizzes and hope we see more! I will keep trying and hopefully I can come to understand what I love for sure. :)
