Painting or Staining KItchen Cabinets

Hi - I asked this a few nights ago and I did get one response. I was told to try the polyshades. I'm reading reviews and they're horrible. We're selling the house and these oversized oak cabinets are an eye sore. There are scrub marks on them from me cleaning them all the time. Should I paint them white ( spray ) or stain? Or, should I just leave them alone? What would make the most sense for resale? ( please excuse the floor. I was doing deep cleaning of the cabinets and made a mess of the floor before I snapped the photo. ) Thanks

It doesn't really have a purpose. I can easily remove it. I was thinking a cream white as well. I didn't want the kitchen too dark. And with the dark floors and granite, I think the white would brighten it up. Better chance of resale?

Creamy white paint and definitely tile the backsplash. Also consider the purpose of the wood piece over the window area. Does it have a purpose?

Paint them off white, glaze them, add great hardware and LED undercabinet lighting. You may also want to update the ceiling light with something more attractive.

What is the overall style of your house? If more traditional, then paint the cabinets white and maybe consider adding crown molding at the top of the cabinets as well. Definitely remove the trim above the window.

The rest of the house has been updated for a contemporary feel. I'm definitely removing the trim above the sink. The light above the sink is a pendant that matches the ones above the table. Here's a photo of behind the camera.

So spraying white would help with the resale? That's ultimately my goal is to sell this house. I want to pull as much equity because we're building on the acreage next to us.

You can paint the bottom cabinets a darker or brighter color and the top ones white or a lighter color. Take a look at some pictures on Houzz. I think it would look beautiful. And hardware makes a huge difference too.

If you are going more contemporary, then a light gray color could work for the cabinets as well. Be sure to apply a primer before painting the cabinets. You could always paint a sample in white and one in gray to see what looks better in the space. If you go with white, you might want to consider adding a tile back splash or a little color on the walls. With gray cabinets, white walls could work well to make the cabinets pop a little more.

Go creamy white. Skip the glaze because it may clash with the black granite. Use and eggshell finish to avoid the glare of glossy finishes. Find a simple backsplash the same color as the cabinets. It will brighten up the space and keep it from looking busy. Glass tiles in small kitchen = visual assault. Good luck!
