It's a terrible product with a long history of glass popping out, counters cracking, etc.

Recycled glass countertops are beautiful, durable and do not scratch, melt, burn, chip, or stain. Maintaining recycled glass is also easy. I got quartz (engineered stone) but if I can afford it I'll go for recycled glass because they are durable as they are fortified with resin epoxy or cement and they are a good alternative to granite. They are also heat resistant, non-porous, non-toxic and have a sleek/modern look.

They are heavier than heck....my hubby brought home some scrap pieces as he was working on a building where they fabricate recycled glass countertops. I did not care for the look of them at all (way too colorful for me) - I would look into the issue with bits and pieces of glass popping out as that does not sound good.

Thanks for your help. I eventually went with a recycled glass countertop from Granite Transformations. It is a 1/4" thick product on a substrate so it isn't too heavy and it has a really good warranty. It's been in place for a couple of months now and it is great so far -- now I just need a new dishwasher (laugh)
