I like the overall shape of your home. What color is your new roof going to be?
The only thing that could use a little adjustment in my opinion is a cover over the front door and your railings over the garage don't appear to coordinate with your style of home. It's hard to tell because of the distance, but are the posts a little ornate? Could be my eyes too...

As far as color for the upper portion, I actually like the color you have or a similar tone. I see the wood needs to be repaired so the painting is needed, but I would take one of the colors of the brick you have to use on the siding or keep it a version of your existing color. See how the siding color coordinates here on this one below?

I like the example that Denita gave...the trim is painted same as house, or you might want to use something not as bright as white......regarding railing on upper deck...is this a usable area...if so, spacing of the pickets seem far apart and may not be to building codes...

Thank you everybody for your suggestions! I would love a gable porch, not sure if it will fit in the budget though. And yes, the deck railing will need to be changed eventually, as it's not up to code.The picture Denita posted was actually already in my ideabook, as it reminds me of my house, but nicer! If I painted the house a cream-type color from the brick, what would work for the trim?

A charcoal roof is the most flexible for future color - and echos the dark flash in your brick. Roof needs to be darker than the body of the house and earth toned roofs must have earth tones like your camoflauge green body. With the burgundy brick, and buff and charcoal, can the windows be painted or are they white aluminum? If you can paint the windows and trim an off-white - like bm maritime white and go to a contrast like bm taos taupe for the shutters - then maybe bm crisp khaki for the body of the house? A navy front door and some nautical light fixtures? Don't paint the trim around the garage doors so they pop . . .
