I'm not sure what to suggest. I like the bones of your house. The low, hipped roof and the rhythm of windows makes me think the architect was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. I could see some low walls being built to enclose a garden possibly. Do an image search for "Frank Lloyd Wright Edwin Cheney House" for some possible inspiration. Do an image search for Wright's Willits house, too. Consulting with a landscape architect would probably be money well spent, and I think you could have a dynamite looking house when you're finished.

Maybe your were already planning on doing this, but my first step would be to remove the vine overtaking the front of the house. Once the front of the house is exposed, you might like it better. I agree with the previous poster that consulting with a landscape architect will be money well spent.

Thank you both - the vine is as good as gone! Yes a landscape architect is the first step for the exterior. I know we will love the look when we can harmonize the windows and door, it is such a small house, it needs balance and simplicity .

I agree get rid of the vine. Is it growing in some kind of planter? If it is maybe you could plant some perennials. I'm sure once the distracting vine is gone you will be able to envision many possibilities. I would move the shrubs under the windows as well. Plant the same perennials as in the planter for more balance. Good luck.

Love the Windows. You definately Need to lose the vine. Consulting a landscape architect is a great idea. I think your front door Needs a great Color to Pop out.

The vine is growing in the ground and will be removed.

I was thinking about turning the exterior stairs toward the driveway and increasing the landing area; perhaps angling the stairs and creating a stone path to the asphalt. Eliminating the asphalt portion of the DR in front of the bay window since we do not need to double park - there is a detached double garage in the rear.

I feel planting shrubs in front of all the windows will balance the lot.

I am not a fan of the 4 LR windows, from inside it seems rather commercial and overwhelms the LR, see photos from the vendor listing.

Any thought on replacing these 4 windows with 2 wide double hung windows? What type of LR window replacement would complement the DR bay window ( which I am also not fond)

Or should we just replace all front windows and door?

I know we need to hire a designer to conceptualize a unified look, I do need lots of !!! help and suggestions before we get to the designer stage.

I would lose the curtain and paint the trim on the Windows White. If you added some nice moulding around the Windows, or splurged for plantation shutters, they would look much better. Cute artwork on your wall by the way. If you add some Color to your walls, I don't think your Windows will be so glaring.
