worse than 80's cabinets with oak trim, mine have cut out oak handles!

purchasing a very outdated home in a nice are (which is wh we could afford it) now we are stuck with the curse of original everything! we have so much work to do that we cannot afford refacing, any ideas? the cabinets are the most hideous I've seen. They are "white" with these oak pulls sunk into each door. HELP!
Can't post pics cause we haven't closed, but this needs to be addressed asap.

If you do paint them you can do a high gloss coat over the paint choice. This will give the Kitchen a fresh cleaner look. If you don't want it to be as contemporary you can get Annie Chalk paint and do layers of color. When you sand down on edges you will get an antiqued look.

Just painting out the wood on that brings them up to this century. Don't skip any of the proper prep, and just color match the paint to the rest of the doors.

Perhaps just a hardware update would be all that is possible with a limited budget.

I had those cabinets and lived with them for many years until I could afford a proper kitchen redo. I used warm rich paint to warm things up.

Just paint them out , change handles and you will be surprised how much better they look.

We have all seen them! They are an 80s staple... Do as others suggest paint the handles.

they are not like those pictured above, I have suffered through those as well, but these actually have a square cut-out on the lower part of the doors with a square insert of oak notched into a handle...never saw the likes of these before.
