Choosing wood floor color for whole house.

I have a one story open floor plan. It's about 1300 sq. ft. I love dark wood floors. I need to choose a wood color and cabinet color. The only room that will be different is the kitchen and hall bathroom. I will use Adura grouted vinyl tile for those rooms. My walls are a beige/gray. Any help?

Dark colors tend to make rooms seem small. If you go with dark floors and cabinets offset the darkness with light colored walls, ceilings, and countertops.

I want to use a luxury vinyl in the kitchen/laundry area instead of wood floor. I hope it doesn't appear too chopped up.

A nice compromise for a dark floor that doesn't make the rooms look smaller is a charcoal style finish over White Oak.
