Thank you, Grover! To me that gal seems at home with the black drum shade and dangling crystals. The white mat perks things up and the black frame works well with the iron furniture.

I also like the couple dancing in the street!

You guys are fun. Wish you all lived next door. I try to copyCAT, others, like the coffee brick wall I saw in a resturant, to the fat chefs, to the kinkades,. Everytime I take the style test, it comes out transitional. I like the art but I don't like cats. lol

I kinda like the picture of dancing in the rain and couples dining together and that beautiful black pear tree in winter. But there goes my idea of trying to throw in bits of lime and blue, hmmmmmm

oh and did I mention quaint cobblestone streets of europe pics? Or maybe i should save the color for the other wall. i want it all. iron scrolls, candle sconces, yet i dont want much. haha

Beautiful light fixture. With either of the Chat Noir pics up, add a nice table cover onto the dining table, along with candle light or flower vase (short one so it won't cover the pic nor steal the focus from the chandelier) will probably turn this into a fine dining in a French restaurant feel. Just a thought. Have fun decorating!

I like the picture in your gallery with the round mirror (it has sort of a charcoal frame). I think it goes with your light and gives an eclectic look. The Ansel Adams and LeChat pictures are good too. Are you going for a Paris-eclectic-bistro look? Oh, and rather than covering the table, I've found second hand stores (and Craigslist) that sell just table tops (wood and stone) from old tables for about $20-30. You might look around to see if you can find a table top to put under your glass top to give you more texture and to tie the table in with the kitchen cabinets.

yes, i was trying to have a little paris look there. the cats too hairy, lol, I dont know about havin a pic of some other woman on the wall, haha, and I like a clear pic, not abstract. since it is a long wall, I thought I had to have a rectangle, but houzzers don't seem to be leaning that way this time. hmmmmm. B4 I bought this tablle, I got an old wooden table from a flea market. Its in the garage. That's the 1st time I fell for something old. I ddn't even know that was a french thing. I learn alot here.

If you're looking for Paris bistro or sidewalk cafe, then the chandelier is all wrong. I think the concept here needs to be rethought.

Models come tomorrow and, @lookinggood, it would take you about 14 seconds to get over your discomfort and paint. Today's view, and one of today's practice paintings below. Our instructor wants to know if you want to buy it. ;-)

I agree with Grover on the Paris bistro/sidewalk cafe being a totally different look from the sophisticated nature of your chandelier. I'll pass on the art, tho eager to see what you produce!

I agree with grover, the chandelier does not work with the Paris bistro or sidewalk cafe. But I find that the dining set and the frame posted at the beginning work very well together. That is exactly the feel I had the first time I looked at them ... an european cafe.

lookingood101, I think you really are off a good start with these 2 pieces. IMO, I would try to sell your chandelier and buy another one that fits the cafe theme. I think you will end up with a better result instead of spending on other things to try to include the chandelier in the decor. You may end up with too much compromises and the overall look will not be coherent.

I also find that the chandelier has not much chance to work with your cabinets unless you plan to replace or paint them. Sorry :(

Perhaps you could take the glass crystals hanging off the chandy and just use the black drum shade with the bistro look;)

grover axle, you must have so many talents! Suzanne and Margo, what is the style of the chandy and what art would go with that.? I don't know the style of the table either. lol

lookingood, again I must say first that if you love your light and your new table together, then, just enjoy it and no need to worry about folks here loving it. If you are just not certain and the look is not making you happy, then I think Margo had a good suggestion to remove the hanging crystals for now and see if you like that better. I looked up round tables with cafe style lights, because that is a good question you had....what does a cafe style light look like. Here is one similar to yours but without crystals. Notice how casual the table and chairs are with it. Add your cafe picture and you are ready to make that coffee and sit back and enjoy it. Later, if you add a cloth tablecloth, some candle sticks and a vase of fresh flowers to host a more formal dinner, then hang those little crystal puppies back up and enjoy your casual to formal transformation. You could leave that look up until the flowers die, tablecloth needs washing and you could turn it back into the casual cafe look.

PS. if you like the idea of changing styles, when having company, if not too much trouble or nuisance, you could even consider switching wall paintings too for that formal dinner, with one of your more formal pictures you likely have stored away, as you were mentioning: ) Just throwing it out there trying to make good of a beautiful light and a lovely person.

Why thank you dear Margo, but oh, you have the funny zingers, which I do not. It was your idea to take the crystals down, I just gussied it up a tad : ) No one wants to have to buy another light after loving the one just bought and installed. I hope lookingood finds it a viable solution to her dilemma.

I am delighted you are happy with the suggestion lookingood. If you get it done and you are happy with it, you could post your casual, without crystal, cafe look with picture up, cup of coffee on the table. Then another photo of your formal, crystal hanging," ready for company dinner" look. Now, lookingood, if you finally feel you have the space living up to your name...........it may be time to have that dinner party! LOL. Enjoy your space: )
