I should mention that the refinished cabinet shown is my wall cabinet. What about wainscoting on top and leave the bottoms. Would that be weird?

I think it is a style choice. The wainscoting will give it a more country feel. It will also be harder to keep clean as the grooves can collect dirt and dust easier. If you have kids and dogs you might want to hold off, or as you say leave the bottom as-is. I think it is fairly common now to have different cabinets top and bottom (for example having glass inserts on the upper cabinets) so I think you could get away with it. You might even want to differ the colors on the top and bottom cabinets if you go that route to highlight the difference. It depends on how matched you want the kitchen and if you plan to resell any time soon. If you are reselling, then I'd probably keep them all the same color you are choosing. I don't think you can go wrong with any of your ideas so just go with what feels right to you. Good luck!
