No! One reason...mosquitoes. Ack!

Nothing better than sleeping on a screened in porch in the cool of the evening

Mosquitoes don't bother me as much as the bears.

I remember sleeping on a screened porch as a kid in the Adirondacks. I thought it was fun back then.

As a child, growing up on a farm, including the 120+ old farmhouse with no air conditioning and stifling 2nd floor, my brothers and I created a bedroom in the gazebo. With old army camp beds, old quilts, dirty farm dogs and cats we would spend the entire summer. Summer storms and we would huddle in the middle. Those are some of the sweetest childhood memories I have. I so wish I had a picture.

Would love it, but no roughing it, that would be camping. I want a comfortable bed with my DH beside me to make me feel safe. Preferably the bed would be on a big upper deck without the worry of critters visiting. For the bugs, I'll throw a mosquito net up.

I slept on an outdoor porch one summer when I was a resort employee - it was lovely.

I think it depends on conditions and the degree of exposure: if it's raining, or if the temperature is perfect with a light breeze, or if it's quietly lovely and the air is sweetly scented....vs mosquitoes and bears (I'm gonna have both) or sticky heat or gas powered noise. So I vote for the indoor/outdoor thing, like pictured above, or just great big windows, like I'm going to have.

It depends on the climate. I like the idea but here in Oregon it rains so much that it would not be too much fun!

In southeast Georgia bugs, and coons would join you.

This is not for me. I love camping, but I still love sleeping inside a tent. I feel to exposed sleeping under the stars, sad as it may sound.

I spent 4 summers as a camp counselor sleeping in open air shelters. Solid roof, solid floor, canvas sides, mosquito nets over the beds. Love Love Love.

Here in So Cal it would be perfect :)

I think that this would be an awesome idea for a client's vacation home or for those who live in a secluded yet tropical locale.

Depends on where you are. We are from Wisconsin, and there is no way we could have done this. We would have been chewed alive by mosquitoes. We now live in Washington, and you might be able to get away with this in the summer, but between the wolf-sized coyotes, cougars, and bears, I wouldn't recommend it. Nonetheless, the picture shown is very beautiful.

NO - bugs!

If you want to sleep outdoors in Arizona, you need to submerge the bed legs in buckets of water to keep scorpions out. Then, you have to wet sheets to keep you cool overnight. I'm not sure if the water would keep rattlers out of the bed, and surely a coyote could easily hop in, or an owl stop by. So, nope. I'm sleeping inside here. I've slept outdoors on a houseboat where there were no bugs, and that was bliss.

I like my rooms screened, maybe a "nap" would be ok. I like to "Glamp" for my naps outdoors, that's fun!

No!! I don't even sleep outside when we're camping. I have a nice big RV.....I don't like bugs, spiders, heat or cold.

I have become more paranoid as I get older.....or maybe the world has changed.

When I was younger, I thought nothing of backpacking up into the local southern California mountains and sleeping under the stars...........Now I worry about mountain lions and maybe even criminal humans.....

We used to drive into Mexico and sleep on the beach at Rosarita Beach........Now we would be suicidal to do that......

I let my children have sleepovers in the tent in the back yard when they were younger, but I was even paranoid enough to sleep just inside the back door on the couch listening to make sure they were safe.

I love the idea of sleeping porches and we do incorporate them into our designs.
