IMO, you should highlight that great artwork using pillows on your sofa.

I stopped looking for a little bit because I was moving. I had a few things on my wish list that took priority over a rug (side table/lamps). Most rugs I see local are to contemporary. I'm leaning toward a DWR thatch rug in gray but I also love vintage rugs.

I would do a nice stripe or geometric and also buy the proper pad for going between a rug and carpet. The rug should be tightly woven and not thick or plush.

I don't pay full retail if I can help it. I see the Dwr rug on eBay every so often. I'm hesitant because I like dwr but don't want it to look like I only shopped at one place. I've looked at west elm rugs but they don't all have a 6x9 option.

Hi Dallasgraduate, I maybe alone in this, but how about a vintage dhurrie or kilm? If you find one that plays off the colors already in the room (maybe a bit more intensity), it would add warmth and bring depth to the room.

I like them too. They can be really classy. I've been on a lookout for one on eBay but I don't like red and red seems to be a common color. I see gorgeous ones on blogs all the time but apparently no one wants to sell their pretty reasonably priced ones.

I love both of them and they would be gorgeous on dark hardwood floors or concrete. However, the color would blend in too much to the color of my carpet :(

I'm not sure you want the area rug to stand out too much against the carpet. It's just to create a little visual interest. I would reconsider something like one of these - maybe bring something home in a natural palette just to see. Alternatively, if you want to try something organic that would look good on your carpeting, you could try a sisal area rug.

On another note, you have a mid century vibe happening and the wall to wall carpeting kind of fits. Maybe accept it and pull the room together in other ways?

Just found these kilim rug options all on wayfair.com - they would all work I believe....?

I'll probably get a natural one or something cheap until I find something I really like. I like having one because I eat on my sofa and if I have a spill it's better that it gets on my own rug so I have a greater chance of my full deposit back when I move again.

So weeks later and I still don't have a rug but I've been looking at rugs by Madeline Weinrib. I'm not sure which one though.
