Your house looks in good shape, but could use some updating. I would remove shutters and beef up window trim. Paint siding grey and trim white. Garage doors should be grey also. I have included a picture to show colour scheme and the look of wider window trim. It is different style than your house, but wanted to include a visual of some of the elements you could incorporate. A portico and walkway like in the pic would work for your house also, although it would be nice for the walkway to extend out to the street also. [houzz=]
For landscaping, I would remove the low hedge as that's a dated look also. You could add a flower bed or rock garden around the light post. I like the large house numbers, but the light between the garage doors should be larger.

Thank you Marlene! I forgot to mention that the brick pony wall is likely coming down. One side is falling so when I do the facelift I have an endless opportunity to make changes. I wanted to go with an updated stack stone look or something like it. I haven't settled on that yet however.

I like the photo idea you included. Adding bolder window trim is an idea I hadn't pondered yet! :-)

Unlike so many on here, you have a nicely proportioned home, and have the ideas to improve it.

As said above, remove shutters, new trim and paint.

Consider moving the house numbers. The are a bit hidden where they are.

I actually love the big house #s, but maybe that's because I spend several hours a week squinting to figure out which house I'm supposed to be at. But the placement is probably throwing people - honestly, I don't think I'd ever think to look over the garage door!

So your portico: that's going to be a little tricky to get just right, because to get it wide enough to look right, the soffit is going to come up almost under the rightmost window above the garage. You'll def want to find a local pro who's not just going to be able to build it, but one who can do some elevation drawings so you can see what it's going to look like. I've seen too many porticos with weird adjacencies like that where some jackleg comes in and chucks a roof up and the whole facade is trashed.
