I cannot say I am a huge fan of this wet bar, but I think it really comes down to if you use it or not. If you do use on a regular basis, I would just update it and dress it up. If not, get rid of it!

We do use it. I'm all for rip out & starting over. I don't know if I should keep same layout design or just have cabinets & counter top on back wall is a more updated look?

Remove it! Yes, I would have a back counter and cabinets or open shelving for storage, for a more open look and feel. More functional as well

Yes I would like to keep some sort of wet bar in this place. It's kind of in a weird place & not sure if I should keep same style or just a open style wet bar on back wall would make more since?

I was just having this conversation at my house. When we remodeled our kitchen about five years ago and we took out the wet bar. Now we find ourselves searching for a freestanding bar to store our whiskey collection and glassware. Back then we were wine drinkers and made a built in wine rack ! Now we don't drink wine anymore. I would modernize it but keep it.

I vote for taking it down and doing an updated, open style wet bar with just the cabinets and countertop on the back wall. The design of it, looking at the most recent pic you've posted seems too closed in and like an afterthought to the space.

I have three styles here of bars. Not sure which style would look best in my space? I posted picture here of area I have to work with as well.

I agree with it feels like a after thought with wall across from it. Other house like mine on my street have a bathroom in that same space instead.

If you have it and you use it, I would leave it... Wet bar is always a nice feature to have in a home. You can dress the area up a little, a few glass cabinets here and there, you can find some nice bottle rack for the wall, get rid of some of the mirrors and before you know it, you will have a nice place to hang out and entertain friends especially during parties.

I have an area in my house dedicated for the bar area... I have been working on the design but didn't get to finalizing yet.

The present design is rather dated. It looks like this area is in your family room? so would opt for keeping the bar, but updated version as in picture with bar stools as it would make a great area to gather when you have company.

we removed our wet bar because the sink was so small we couldn't even really use it. We are planning a new bar area without the wet bar.

Since you used your wet bar, I would get rid of that one and start over. I would go with an open style more modern style bar. What is the overall look of your home?

Hi is the wall dividing the bar from your dining area a structual wall. If not I like the idea from GN Builders (if it is structual with the post showing is optional) to open up the area though I prefer the top right bar photo seating & painted not the timber front. :)

It looks fine. Just update the area. Remove the mirror, replace the light fixture with a modern one, put up artwork or floating shelves or a wine rack and paint the cabinets white. If it has a purpose in your home and you are getting use of it keep it.

The wall across is a low bearing wall. We can't take it down. I like the idea of maybe getting rid of the wood paneling & going with a painted wall instead. The new flooring will be a dark wood. I'm wondering if the bar is in dark wood as well it might get lost & not noticed...

Instead of a u shape bar, maybe just a peninsula with rounded shape for a few bar stool or even a circle on the end for a mini pub table.
If that's a rabbit or guinea pig cage in the corner, you could even create a niche for it in the awkward space where the counters make a corner. Even just a door to that outside make the space easier to store things.

If you only do cabinets on the walls, you could add a game table or pub table.

I will have to find a new place for the bunny cage to go. Never thought of how I might incorporate them together some how. Now my brain is thinking.
