3 x 6 white subway tile. Its not in yet though. What would/did you go with? Did you do a feature behind the cooktop? I cant tell in this pic

We did the same! No feature behind the cooktop, but I plan on hanging a floating shelf in stainless to utilize the heat lamp feature in our hood, and also to add a little visual interest in that area. I'm not a huge fan of adding fancy tile there. Here we're my thoughts on choosing the back splash from another post where someone asked me:
" We chose the simple subway tiles for many reasons. One, I wanted a very monotone look. I felt I would bring in colors and textures in other ways, and wouldn't get sick of them. Two, budget! These were extremely cost effective. And three, I wanted a look bordering on industrial, which is exactly what this does. I don't care for borders or glass tiles, or ornate designs. It also comes in very cool colors, like the navy. If I had gone this route, I probably would have chosen the white though, for all the reasons I stated above. Since I started considering that tile, I've seen it in several publications and other homes. I still like it a lot!
Something else we considered was using another slab of the carrara as the backsplash. Not exactly cost effective, but a gorgeous look nonetheless. "

Omg love the idea of the stainless shelf. Hadnt thought about our heat lamps and how theyd actually heat food! I wasnt going to do a feature since i think they can date something really quickly but our tile guy talked me into one. I think ill telll him no now. Good call - youre always on it! Oh and im not sure if youve ever checked out designerhomesurplus.com but thats where we got all our appliances (capital range/ovens, hood, etc.). They have amazing prices and killer customer service just fyi :)

Excited about the shelf! Will post when we find one and have it up. I would have loved to do a chunky salvaged wood shelf instead of stainless, but my husband reminds me that heat+flame+wood= not a good idea. That's why I keep him around. ;)
