Maybe you are trying to hard to match the gray in the sofas, I don't think grass cloth would suit y=this space, maybe find some more colorful pillows and try a color from one of them also lower the art work in the DR and the little ones on the wall in LR. A blue might be nice The wall in the DR would be perfect,.or even a fushia accent wall with the main color I see in sofas picture. Something like these pillows would give you some choice.

I tried using the Benjamin Moore site and that's why I was going with the grey. It was the only colour I really liked when I added to my room but seeing it on my walls now I see it's way too dark. Think I should stick with a lighter colour.

I like the wallpaper idea, behind your dining table. Don’t do the entire wall, but frame it. I think you should not do the grasscloth, but pick another paper with some color and design. From the paper, coordinate your wall color and fabrics.
