We have seen a slab of the Silestone equivalent, Suede Charcoal Soapstone with N-Boost. Samples of the Corian Nero Soapstone are sold out.

I didn't realize quartz came in a soapstone look. This is good to know in case we can't get soapstone countertops!

We just installed the Silestone Charcoal Soapstone in the suede finish. It's only been a week but we are more than thrilled. I had been warned that the matte finishes will show finger prints and the like more but it hasn't been an issue. Any marks that do show up are quickly eliminated with a damp micro fibre cloth. I don't even need to dry and buff them, they don't dry streaky. My black ceramic cook top shows more dirt and marks than the countertop. Not sure how the Corian compares though.

matte finish quartz will show fingerprints, oils, smudges, and a million other things that will never 100% be removed. Are you okay with that? Do you have under cabinet lighting that can enhance this look? Here are pictures of a matte quartz that was installed with the homeowner signing 3 acknowledgements

that this would happen... It was removed from her home within 2 days because she hated it even though she said she would not.

@Catt Combs as I have indicated, we have matte quartz and this has not been an issue for us. It is very warm and humid where we are and this morning I laid my sweaty hand on the counter, leaving behind finger marks. Within less than a minute they were gone having dried. When I wipe my counters down with just water any marks are gone and the counter dries on it's own with no streak marks. I have under counter lighting as well as a lot of natural daylight and that's not been a problem for showing marks either. I do suspect however that you may see more marks with any counter that has more uniform colour. The more variation you have in your slab the less you will see any marks (mine has a very faint mottling to the colour). Also, Silelestone calls their finish "suede" and it has the faintest sheen to it which may also make a difference. I have seen other matte finishes that are more flat so maybe it's the NBoost that makes the difference.

Yes i am aware of your luck. I am a fabricator. producing these types of counters is my job. There are a very select few who love it. but more people who hate it and many people who were not informed of its problems. I have seen the suede finish and it produced many of the same problems. These slabs are called Zeal Alkchemist honed. It is a matte finish and was made to look like soapstone so there is a lot of veining and color variation that cannot be seen on these photos.

Congrats on your stone and your lucky, it is very impressive. But just because you currently do not have issues does not mean that others will not. There are hundred of threads on Houzz of users who have problems with "matte, suede, concrete, or rugged" finishes on quartz.

Have you also fabricated the Silestone products with N-Boost? If so, did you note any difference in the performance? Just curious.

We hardly ever fabricate Silestone. It not a popular seller for us so we actually stopped carrying it about 3 years ago or so.

I actually was trying to decide between this and the Silestone Charcoal Soapstone today. My kitchen designer showed me the sample of Nero that he just got in and it did look very nice. But I couldn’t believe how it reacted to being touched. Even from just handling the sample you could see how every spot turned into dark splotches that just did not look good. Color wise I definitely think it’s better than the silestone, which looks a bit blue. However the silestone in suede finish, I could not get my fingerprints to show up on it no matter what even when tilting it to the light. So even though slightly bluish, I still liked the color and put in an order for that, as my whole reason for going quartz is to minimize maintenance.

Is anyone still contemplating using soapstone vs Silestone quartz (suede) charcoal soapstone? I didn't realize there were so many issues commented on about fingerprints on the honed. And how many say it's not a problem vs it IS a problem. Wondering why it's not a constant either way (like scratching is with soapstone)
