This is what the tv wall looked like with the shelves and old tv and then without and the new tv....

The 2nd pic is the old tv arrangment and the left pic is with the new tv taken last night.
PLEASE disregard the mess under the cabinets in the first set of pics.....I did some reorganizing and it now looks like this.......

Smart move to just clean up that tv wall with all that was around it before and I have to totally agree with Ann.....perfect as is. I am not a fan of art or pics or gallery walls around a tv as it is just too distracting. When I watch tv, I want to focus on the screen and not all the stuff around it. Even when the tv is off.....the wall is great just the way it is.

LOVE your room!!!! Truly a place to call HOME!!!

Do you have a hallway for the gallery wall? Do you have pics you have your heart set on displaying?

Love the one with the new T.V and no shelves. I would have a gallery wall away from the T.V it is just too much on that wall.

Well, "heck fire"! Here I've been stressing for almost two weeks, prior to painting over the old peach color underneath the shelving, as to what in the world was I going to do with this space. I will need to drag my feet painting and installing the crown molding. ha!

I will admit that I was thinking of moving the cable box and the Blu-ray more toward the sides and using a dough bowl/board with some dried flowers or some short battery operated pillar candles centered on the cabinet. The mercury glass candle sticks/candles were taken from the mantle last night when I decided to try the lantern/books up there. I need to fix/replace the frame around the art piece on the mantle...had a slight mishap when preparing to paint the brick.

abbyjean...I do not have any pieces of art or photos that I have my heart set on hanging around the tv. Which is one reason I was dreading try to create a gallery wall. I do have a gallery wall down the hallway to the right of the tv/cabinet. Photos of the kids from when they were babies, through school, getting married and now that grand-daughter that is the apple of our eyes.

The wall color is Ben Moore's Carolina Gull. It's a moody color....grey to green and sometimes with a hint of blue/green. I chose it to balance out the old terra cotta brick when we installed the hardwoods.

Thank you all so very much for putting me at ease. Maybe after all the years of reading comments and view pics on Houzz I've learned a few things.

PS....Is the artwork behind the brown chair/ottoman to much with the tv or does it help balance out the different depths of each wall?

I have been dragging my feet finishing this tv wall. I still need the crown moulding put up, it is painted thankfully, touch up the ceiling and do some sort of trim around the cabinet where the wall and cabinet do not quiet meet. Also, it just seems so dark at that end of the room.

I've had a couple of thoughts and wanted to get some feedback:

1. Paint the wall behind the tv same color as cabinet? IF so, should I do the little side wall that is part of the cabinet space as well....NOT the wall the painting is hanging on behind the brown chair.

2. Do some sort of wall treatment, everything painted white as cabinets. I have a photo bookmarked that got me to thinking about the wall treatment. I'll try and attach the link t that separately.

OR maybe something similar to the plank walls.

I know the fireplace should be the focal point so that is my hesitation to jump on doing something to the tv wall.....other than maybe simply painting it white.
