Help with Sunroom

last modified: 9 years ago

With lots of Houzz help we are making some changes to our recently purchased and painted Myrtle Beach home.
I would love some suggestions for a rug, curtains sofa pillows and small table for the sunroom.
The sofa, coffee table, cane chairs, wall lighting, blinds and ceiling fan are staying.
The room is 7.5 x 13
There are more photos in my idea book " Myrtle Beach Sunroom"
Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions. :)

Love the gray and ivory. The ivorynreally brightens up space and introducing grey vs another shade of blue.

More pics of bottom rug, rug number two. I think I may prefer this one after all. The first one I did not compare to walls. I think this blue may bit a better fit!

I could keep the ivory one for my bedroom? What do you all think. I just wish I could get more accurate pics but I do think I am leaner to this one now. Rug number two

Looking side by side I think grey and ivory is better. The other is too blue

The ivory will coordinate well with new curtains too.

Thanks S Mistry for the side by side. I am going to study both. I wish you all could see the colours correctly they are so off from what my phone shows. Both are beautiful rugs though. They grey just looks richer in person and more expensive. Lol but it was cheaper!
Hubby just right away said beige looked dirty so he was steering me to the gray. Going to look at it for a few more minutes and peel back the blue to the gray. Gray is wrong word though it is pretty bluish gray like reviews said.

To me I don't like either w the sunroom couch or sunroom "coffee table." Just seems like too much blue to me. But if those two things were not blue I think it would look better (at least to me).
    Don't hate me everybody! Lol
If it were me and I wanted to keep one, I would chose the neutral background with turquoise coral one because it looks better w the LR and can chairs to me. Then I would paint the coffee table and reupholster the sunroom couch.

Lol Jordan. The ivory and grey doesn't look blue on my screen. Which is why I like it

Lol true mistry. Val says it's blue looking irl...I kinda see it as slate. But I made a typo val....cane chairs not can chairs

Val, I have a grey rug (PB) that could read bluish grey. So I know exactly what you mean. Grey in throw pillows will help it read more grey vs blue.

Look at the colors with your ivory curtains in mind. Just look at the white you have there now. Grey and ivory goes much better, he beige clashes with the white curtains

True about it looking gray, but then I don't like how dark the room looks with that one. The neutral background one lightens things up (like you mentioned before mistry). So idk if either really work if it were me....Maybe i am picky!! Aghhh

I've kinda lost track of #1 #2, but I think I still like #2. That is the one where the coral is blue-ish and the background is light. I think that one works better with your sofa, walls, etc. The other one (on my screen) the background looks to gray/blue almost baby blu-ish. Anyway, Valerie, you will have to use your "third eye" and keep the one you love the most! DH too!

See, I feel the ivory and grey brightens things up because the ivory is the dominant color.

Guess Val and her third eye will decide :)

Ok made a decision based on curtains as S Mistry suggested. In think the ivory will. E better. :).

I don't really care too much if it goes with the cane chairs as my long term plan or maybe even this season lol still is to recover them.

Ok hubby likes gray and ivory I loved it initially and curtain issue makes my decision. Jordon I promise the room is way brighter with both rugs and I think more with gray because of the ivory. Living Room is beige and ivory rug son both are ok that way. I think blue one is a little too turquoisey in person.

Our new french patio door is going in now! Gotta sneak a peek

I want to hear all opinions though but in person the gray which to me is blue LOL is the classier looking rug. Still living with the blue for a bit though as it is getting dusk out. I will see both in nighttime lighting and take more pics.

Hubby is installing new kitchen lights!! Stay tuned.

S Mistry did you like my little plant in the white box on the little coffee table?

Big clam shell (Venus fly trap) has been returned.

Val don't go returning just yet. Give it a day and also check colors at night. It'll help you decide for certain

Funny u mention grey looking classier. I was thinking the same. It looks more luxurious

Wanted to post this. It is the online pic of the gray ivory rug. It is a better depiction of the colour. rug number 1 first one I posted
  • 9 years ago
How the grey rug looks on the left is what I am seeing in person. Not this dark gray it is photographing as.
Wow that is a huge difference....seeing this I would have to say neutral background one for sure

Are you saying the grey is lighter in color than the pics show? If so, even better!

Yes much lighter. More like the online pic depicted it :)
Jordan neutral background is the blue beige one . Is that the one you like. Number 2 ?
Number 1 is gray background with ivory coral
  • 9 years ago
Number two is beige background with blue coral. This is two at the moment.
More number twos which are beige background with blue coral. :)

    Too much blue.

Rug number 1 at night. I do want to turn it around so that the coral from the living room is running the same way as I had it in the blue rug. This is the gray and ivory rug :)
I think the gray helps tone down the nighttime green in the walls.

Looks nice. If the green walls bug you, try changing bulbs to a cool white. Not sure it'll be what you like, but worth trying since you always comment about the green walls

I think the sunroom light might have cool white vs warm white bulbs

Are bulbs labeled cool or warm I never knew. Should all my bulbs be cool?

I will look for that! It is a big difference :)

I would turn it too, because then the coral would be "growing" in the upright condition! hahaha!

I know Flo, I told my husband it is growing backwards! :)

I don't think they are supposed to be coral.

You are right S Mistry they don't advertise it as coral but is does seem to have roots on one side. I want it to grow the right way lol
  • 9 years ago
I did when I put Venus fly trap below. We did not care for it. I tried the big silver bowl there again tonight it is too wide.

I used to love the suitcase there. Hubby still does.

Now the whole shelf is nagging at me. It may be like you said that it is dark I am not liking but I know hubby would flip and I know I hurt his feelings with the mirror so not going to push it.
He is now making a little homemade hooks for the corner. lol I took away his wall and gave him an 8 inch space. Lol
  • 9 years ago
Wow it does look pink! It is not pink at all just a light beige. I haven't looked at the console links you sent I will do that now
