Plan calls for walk-in doorless shower 56 x 45 with opening along the long side at the opposite end from the shower head (there will be showerhead and hand shower). I'm figuring a corner bench (size tbd) as one along the long wall would decrease useable space. Contractor thinks it should be in the corner opposite the opening but I was thinking it would be more useful in the corner at the showerhead end, as it seems the opposite end would be rather far from the shower. I was also thinking I would add a teak shower stool that could be used in the shower and moved to side of bathtub when bathing, but it seems that would be more crowded if bench is at the opening end.

Is there any guidance out there regarding placement of shower benches?
