Reply to: these were actually glued to the ceiling. these have an 1/8" gap between them. another suggestion would be to have your carpenter chamfer the edge or a square edge around all the edges of the plywood, thus giving the allusion of a gap and gives a dimension to the edge. this plywood is actually 1/4" thick.

Reply to: Thanks for your question! The plywood panels have a 10mm gap between them, with the timber stud behind painted the black colour. Good luck with it :)

Reply to: Thanks for your question! The plywood is 18mm thick and is screw fixed into the timber frame behind. At that thickness, the plywood is really strong so we only needed the screw fixings around the perimeter of each sheet, and not through the centre. Hopefully that helps!

Reply to: Actually, we used exposed trim head screws for these ceiling panels. They're too small and subtle to show up in the photo. However, one option for a concealed fastening system is to use french cleats, or z-clips, such as: http://www.monarchmetal.com/products/monarch-z-clips/

Reply to: Working from memory: The panels are prefinished maple face with exposed trimhead screws (in a nice pattern of 3 at each corner) over 3/4" furring strips (stained black) that are attached to the rafters. The furring strips back all of the edges. I don't think there is edge banding on the panels, but the joints are kept tight (1/16"?) so that there is a dark shadow line. There is a line of curved panels at the valley (not seen in this photo) that was achieved by back kerfing the panel so it could take the bend. The panels were cut on site & installed by the homeowners, so I do not have any cost information.
