Jeremy and the Southlight team renovated our home from top to bottom. The house was taken down to the studs and rebuilt. Jeremy, Geoff, Jake and team were a pleasure to work with. Jeremy was always accessible and responsive to all of our questions and offered great suggestions that helped us make better decisions. Honesty and integrity are two words that come to mind when thinking of Jeremy and team. The cost plus billing system helped us manage our renovation budget and the transparency it provided gave us peace of mind at the end of the day. Jeremy was also generous in letting us use his contractor’s discount to purchase materials. We are very comfortable knowing that everything in our house was done properly and the workmanship and detail in the trim work is first class. Overall a very positive experience. We contacted Southlight Design/Build Inc. for our kitchen renovation. As with many older homes, our renovation presented a number of design and construction challenges. Jeremy responded with designs and solutions that were innovative, practical and aesthetically pleasing. The Southlight team used their excellent carpentry, electrical and plumbing skills to master all the steps in the renovation. Southlight’s business practices are excellent. The kitchen renovation was completed on time and below budget. Jeremy and his team at Southlight are friendly and professional. As a result, we have been pleased have Southlight complete several additional renovations for our home.

I hired Jeremy and his crew to fix some major structural in our basement in order to fix sagging beams and make it open concept. They got the job done so quickly, it was seriously impressive. If you are looking for an expert general contractor who is highly skilled, honest, trustworthy, knowledgeable, meticulous, AND genuinely sincere - you must reach out to Jeremy Hudspith! He is one of a kind. We hired him to do the plumbing for a new washroom after a number of confusing quotes/proposals from multiple companies. Jeremy took the time to explain his proposal and the pros and cons. Needless to say, we were very reassured and completely satisfied with his excellent work. We would hire him again in a minute and would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends. We truly wish there were more contractors with his skill set, experience, and integrity.

I wanted an unusual design for my second story cedar deck. Jeremy and his crew were amazing in bring this project to life. He worked through every detail with me before He and his team produced the engineering plans and took them to the Committee of Adjustments. The process was far smoother than I was anticipating. The construction was well planned, and the job site was always neat. They paid a great attention to detail. I wanted no visible screws anywhere on the deck and some very creative ideas came up to make that happen. I’m very impressed with the quality of workmanship, it has been a few years since it was finished, and it has held up perfectly. Jeremy then built a small outbuilding with a unique design, it has a green roof, costume glass cedar door unit, custom cedar siding and a large rough wooden beam that extends out to hold a swing set. The quality of both projects is excellent they have made my backyard a great living space. His crew was very friendly, and they were hard workers. I have recommended Jeremy to friends many times.

Jeremy and his team made our massive gut reno as easy as possible. Jeremy is a rare contractor in that he has excellent communication skills! We knew what was going to happen ahead of time because he took the time to make sure we understood the process, what it was going to cost, and why we were taking some steps and not others. He really knows Toronto houses. He had a great team, too! We actually missed them when the work was over. We also appreciated the time they took to attend to the details at the end. We've recommended Southlight to many friends and neighbours, and will call on them again when we need work done in the future.

We hired Jeremy four years ago to get our (new-to-us) house ready for us to live in. He and his team renovated a bathroom and added a workshop to our basement. We were very happy with the results and hired him again a year later to convert a porch into interior space. He did another great job that we enjoy every day. Jeremy is a great communicator and does what he says he will. We've already recommended him to a neighbour who also had a good experience.

One of the most stressful things about renovating or building an addition, in our case a garage with workspace, is finding a contractor who can do the build but also assist with design. Jeremy at Southlight Design/Build was exceptional. Southlight undertook the entire build from scratch, and then facilitated with a range of complex design issues in relation to the split between, garage, workspace and storage loft, as well as re-engineering the layout of the backyard, deck and basement access. Southlight came with an exceptional crew, with a strong network of trades people to handle particular tasks. They addressed all our concerns quickly, while communicating with us thoroughly throughout the build. Nothing but good things to say about the project. Highly recommended.

I have had Jeremy Hudspith do several jobs for me over the years. From rewiring my photography studio to gutting and rebuilding my kitchen Jeremy & his crew were professional, respectfully of the space they were working in and on budget. If I added changes I was always presented estimates in advance and with options on how to best execute the work. I would not hesitate to use Southlight again or recommend them to anyone who is looking for fine craftsmanship and at a reasonable & competitive price.
