Small backyard with lots of potential. We created the perfect space adding visual interest from inside the house to outside of it. We added a BBQ Island with Grill, sink, and plenty of counter space. BBQ Island was cover with stone veneer stone with a concrete counter top. Opposite side we match the veneer stone and concrete cap on a newly Outdoor fireplace. far side we added some post with bright colors and drought tolerant material and a special touch for the little girl in the family, since we did not wanted to forget about anyone. French doors were placed at the rear of Great Room to allow access to the Back Porch and skylights were placed in the roof of the Back Porch to bring in more daylight. An outdoor stone fireplace was added in one corner of the back porch. During construction the owners decided to eliminate the screens and open the Back Porch and extend the blue stone flooring out onto a large patio in order to create a broader outdoor living space. The patio is curved along the back edge with a low stone wall which separates it from a planting bed with a curved walkway made from chips of blue slate.

What's nice about this setup is that you grill and it's done. You can turn away from grill and eat and relax. - braxtopd
Design ideas for a huge farmhouse partial sun backyard concrete paver outdoor sport court in DC Metro for summer.
Here's one of our most recent projects that was completed in 2011. This client had just finished a major remodel of their house in 2008 and were about to enjoy Christmas in their new home. At the time, Seattle was buried under several inches of snow (a rarity for us) and the entire region was paralyzed for a few days waiting for the thaw. Our client decided to take advantage of this opportunity and was in his driveway sledding when a neighbor rushed down the drive yelling that his house was on fire. Unfortunately, the house was already engulfed in flames. Equally unfortunate was the snowstorm and the delay it caused the fire department getting to the site. By the time they arrived, the house and contents were a total loss of more than $2.2 million.
Our role in the reconstruction of this home was two-fold. The first year of our involvement was spent working with a team of forensic contractors gutting the house, cleansing it of all particulate matter, and then helping our client negotiate his insurance settlement. Once we got over these hurdles, the design work and reconstruction started. Maintaining the existing shell, we reworked the interior room arrangement to create classic great room house with a contemporary twist. Both levels of the home were opened up to take advantage of the waterfront views and flood the interiors with natural light. On the lower level, rearrangement of the walls resulted in a tripling of the size of the family room while creating an additional sitting/game room. The upper level was arranged with living spaces bookended by the Master Bedroom at one end the kitchen at the other. The open Great Room and wrap around deck create a relaxed and sophisticated living and entertainment space that is accentuated by a high level of trim and tile detail on the interior and by custom metal railings and light fixtures on the exterior.

Patio kitchen - traditional stone patio kitchen idea in San Francisco
Cute grill area with partial pergola; don’t need this much counter space. - webuser_763889919
This patio actually becomes a second home of sort! The living space actually features a kitchen, a serving and bar spot, a dining area for 6, and a large casual living room. The layout is based on the traditional architectural response of the kitchen becoming a busy hub between the dining and living rooms.
This patio is made up of large-format blue stone in regular sizes. Best guess is the smaller ones are 24 x 36. They come in a variety of sizes small and large - tradition_construction

The new owners of this West Village Manhattan townhouse knew that gutting an historically significant building would be a complex undertaking. They were admirers of Turett's townhouse renovations elsewhere in the neighborhood and brought his team on board to convert the multi-unit structure into a single family home. Turett's team had extensive experience with Landmarks, and worked closely with preservationists to anticipate the special needs of the protected facade.
The TCA team met with the city's Excavation Unit, city-appointed archeologists, preservationists, Community Boards, and neighbors to bring the owner's original vision - a peaceful home on a tree-line street - to life. Turett worked with adjacent homeowners to achieve a planted rear-yard design that satisfied all interested parties, and brought an impressive array of engineers and consultants aboard to help guarantee a safe process.
Turett worked with the owners to design a light-filled house, with landscaped yard and terraces, a music parlor, a skylit gym with pool, and every amenity. The final designs include Turett's signature tour-de-force stairs; sectional invention creating overlapping volumes of space; a dramatic triple-height steel-and-glass elevation; extraordinary acoustical and thermal insulation as part of a highly energy efficient envelope.

At Century Stair, every person in the design/sales/production team was involved to deliver the architect/builder's vision; refined simplicity. This clean and crisp staircase is composed of dark solid oak wooden treads, white risers, a landing/reading nook area, white square balusters/newels, and an inviting railing system surrounding the full length of the stairwell. By keeping up with technology, expanding our machining abilities, and having dedicated craftsmen making sure we deliver the best, we were able to match this builder's requirements and expectations. The Pavilion is a contemporary outdoor living addition to a Federation house in Roseville, NSW.
The existing house sits on a 1550sqm block of land and is a substantial renovated two storey family home. The 900sqm north facing rear yard slopes gently down from the back of the house and is framed by mature deciduous trees.
The client wanted to create something special “out the back”, to replace an old timber pergola and update the pebblecrete pool, surrounded by uneven brick paving and tubular pool fencing.
After years living in Asia, the client’s vision was for a year round, comfortable outdoor living space; shaded from the hot Australian sun, protected from the rain, and warmed by an outdoor fireplace and heaters during the cooler Sydney months.
The result is large outdoor living room, which provides generous space for year round outdoor living and entertaining and connects the house to both the pool and the deep back yard.
The Pavilion at Roseville is a new in-between space, blurring the distinction between inside and out. It celebrates the contemporary culture of outdoor living, gathering friends & family outside, around the bbq, pool and hearth.
