A custom millwork piece in the living room was designed to house an entertainment center, work space, and mud room storage for this 1700 square foot loft in Tribeca. Reclaimed gray wood clads the storage and compliments the gray leather desk. Blackened Steel works with the gray material palette at the desk wall and entertainment area. An island with customization for the family dog completes the large, open kitchen. The floors were ebonized to emphasize the raw materials in the space.

This project was a gut renovation of a loft on Park Ave. South in Manhattan – it’s the personal residence of Andrew Petronio, partner at KA Design Group. Bilotta Senior Designer, Jeff Eakley, has worked with KA Design for 20 years. When it was time for Andrew to do his own kitchen, working with Jeff was a natural choice to bring it to life. Andrew wanted a modern, industrial, European-inspired aesthetic throughout his NYC loft. The allotted kitchen space wasn’t very big; it had to be designed in such a way that it was compact, yet functional, to allow for both plenty of storage and dining. Having an island look out over the living room would be too heavy in the space; instead they opted for a bar height table and added a second tier of cabinets for extra storage above the walls, accessible from the black-lacquer rolling library ladder. The dark finishes were selected to separate the kitchen from the rest of the vibrant, art-filled living area – a mix of dark textured wood and a contrasting smooth metal, all custom-made in Bilotta Collection Cabinetry. The base cabinets and refrigerator section are a horizontal-grained rift cut white oak with an Ebony stain and a wire-brushed finish. The wall cabinets are the focal point – stainless steel with a dark patina that brings out black and gold hues, picked up again in the blackened, brushed gold decorative hardware from H. Theophile. The countertops by Eastern Stone are a smooth Black Absolute; the backsplash is a black textured limestone from Artistic Tile that mimics the finish of the base cabinets. The far corner is all mirrored, elongating the room. They opted for the all black Bertazzoni range and wood appliance panels for a clean, uninterrupted run of cabinets. Entering this downtown Denver loft, three layered cowhide rugs create a perfectly organic shape and set the foundation for two cognac leather arm chairs. A 13' panel of Silver Eucalyptus (EKD) supports a commissioned painting ("Smoke") Bottom line, it’s a pretty amazing first impression! Without showing you the before photos of this condo, it’s hard to imagine the transformation that took place in just 6 short months. The client wanted a hip, modern vibe to her new home and reached out to San Diego Interior Designer, Rebecca Robeson. Rebecca had a vision for what could be. Rebecca created a 3D model to convey the possibilities… and they were off to the races. The design races that is. Rebecca’s 3D model captured the heart of her new client and the project took off. With only 6 short months to completely gut and transform the space, it was essential Robeson Design connect with the right people in Denver. Rebecca searched HOUZZ for Denver General Contractors. Ryan Coats of Earthwood Custom Remodeling lead a team of highly qualified sub-contractors throughout the project and over the finish line. The client’s coastal New England roots inspired this Shingle style design for a lakefront lot. With a background in interior design, her ideas strongly influenced the process, presenting both challenge and reward in executing her exact vision. Vintage coastal style grounds a thoroughly modern open floor plan, designed to house a busy family with three active children. A primary focus was the kitchen, and more importantly, the butler’s pantry tucked behind it. Flowing logically from the garage entry and mudroom, and with two access points from the main kitchen, it fulfills the utilitarian functions of storage and prep, leaving the main kitchen free to shine as an integral part of the open living area. LOFT | Luxury Loft Transformation | FOUR POINT DESIGN BUILD INC This ultra feminine luxury loft was designed for an up-and-coming fashion/travel writer. With 30' soaring ceiling heights, five levels, winding paths of travel and tight stairways, no storage at all, very little usable wall space, a tight timeline, and a very modest budget, we had our work cut out for us. Our client tasked us with creating a versatile workspace for their family, including a daughter in college. Space was at a premium in their downtown loft, so we needed to create an efficient space that could be changed in the future to fulfill other needs. Our solution was a custom metal desk on casters, topped with concrete quartz. The office has little natural light, so white lacquered cabinets and metallic wallpaper were used to add life to the space.

This bedroom is small and had a tiny existing closet and poor flow, so we had to get creative. We reworked the layout to allow for a walk in closet and replaced old carpet with bamboo flooring. By adding a loft bed, we gained a large custom desk space, complete with tool chest as desk storage. Since my client’s view of the ceiling got a little closer, we added interest with bold color and design. A contemporary dresser and comfortable reading chair round out the space. The existing bathroom had a leaking shower with odd angles. To save money, we kept the angles and added a European shower tower, maximizing luxury and function in a tight space. The wall mounted vanity is visually lighter than a traditional vanity and makes the room feel larger. And we can’t forget the giraffe – a fun and colorful accent for a true animal lover! This open, brick and beam loft space featured earthy and textured surfaces – in a very mid-90s setting. We embraced the brick and incorporated a mixture of warm materials including oil-rubbed bronze, ebonized walnut and wide-board, bleached-oak flooring. The brick became the backsplash framed by the open display shelves. The result is a transitional space that embraces the warm, textural features. Jared Kuzia Photography
